I saw Stephanie DeFeo today. It brought a smile to her face that someone from that long ago would remember her. I spoke with her briefly about her racing back in the day and how neat it was to see her after 20 years. I do have her email address if anyone would like to get a hold of her, just email me. She is a coach at a college. She looked like she could pick up a bike today and still smoke most of the boys. (or at least Richie Coles) If you would like her email just let me know. I also have Missy Fred's email if anyone is interested.

Hi Andy,
I remember Stephanie winning the NBL title in the boys class against Gary DeBacker, Brian Colegrove and a whole slew of others at the NBL Grands in South Park. She was just a little kid and I didn't know her but I had to listen to Brian Colegrove whine about her the whole way back to Michigan. Her win over him and Gary became my best line of defense when I travelled with either of them.

As I said I didn't know her but it was good to hear that she is still around. I wonder why she ever got out of racing at such a young age. She was an amazing rider.

You might want to contact Jim Melton and let him know you tracked her down. I've asked about her often with him but he never knew what became of her.

Next one to find would be Justin Roo's!

Hi Andy and Deanna,
I think it is great that you have located Stephanie. That gal was unreal. I think she was the 1st girl to triple at a ABA Grand National. That was against the boys also. Here is my email jmc1bmx@centurytel.net Please send me her email.

Yes Deanna, it would be great to learn the where abouts of Justin Roos. Talk to you later.

Stephanie Defeo was an amazing racer.

Could you post a current photo of her?

It would be cool to see one of Missy Fred too.

Missy Fred!

I remeber the Robinson ad she was in - the bike (mini) was still almost as big as she was - lol

Missy has children, but no racers. I have tried to talk her into bringing them to the tracks when I am near to watch but to no avail. Stephanie got out of bmx for family reasons. She was also bummed because after tripling at the grands they put the rule into effect that she couldn't race the boys anymore. ..ie Bad for Her, Good for the Boys!!!! For those of you that knew Sharon Fred (missy's mom) she is just as fun to talk to about the old times. We have had some wonderful talks. Its always great to see and relive with old friends.
