Cash and others,
Here's the skinny. Catheter came out 7 days post op. Have full bladder control (no leaking, drip-drip ) Was jogging on the treadmill at day 9 and had sexual functions back on day 13 (not 18years old anymore, but it works ). Still a little sore to sit on a bike seat. However a big comfy seat was put on my exercise bike. Cleared to go back to work w/o restrictions on 9/21 only four weeks post op. I feel great but life is changed. Will be going on a three day backpacking trip in the sierras this coming weekend. Will start riding in three weeks. Need the incision ports in the stomach to heal all the way, don't want a hernia. I want to thank each of you and hope you get a prostate check-up.
Can't get rid of me that easy,
Stu

Stu:
Thanks for the report. I told your story to my doctor today and made sure that he knew I wanted to be checked. Your story and your willingness to share it here in public may very well save a life.

Iv'e been wondering how I could celebrate my 4000th post here on VBMX & responding to this thread is how I'm doing it.
I turned 40 in June & have been on the fence about going to see the Dr. (as prob alot of us are). I haven't been through a physical for ages but this thread helped me make my mind up.
I go in Oct. 2nd for a full check up & everything. I'm glad everything is going good for you Stu. Thanks for starting this thread!

Bruce,
I am glad to see you stepping up and getting that physical done. I know we all want to talk about bikes and the old times but some, and most of us, are in the gender and age bracket for prostate cancer. Let's take the time to restore and take care of our bodies as if it was one of your prize rebuilds.

Jeff,
It's one of the most devistating side affects of prostate cancer. Some men can put off getting checked for the fear of it side affects. I don't mean to share to much intel but I want to let all know that with the skill of todays surgeons and the advancment of the procedures, men who catch the cancer early, have a higher chance for normalcy.

Stu,
I've never had the pleasure of meeting you yet although I raced at many races you were racing at back in the 70's. I KNOW that I WILL meet you someday and I'm really looking forward to it! Heck man I want to race you! Rock on Stu.

Excellent outcome. I'm happy for you Stu.
The robotic arm is interesting. So long as you are sharing, is there a higher rate of the plumbing working properly (bladder control, sexual function) if you have the robot verse more typical surgery?
Since 40, I’ve had a “relationship†with my doctor that includes “yeah go ahead and drop the drawers and put your elbows on the table..†Once you get past the farting at him, you are fine. ;o)
We are funny people with such silly fears. I have an uncle that had colon cancer and he was too embarrassed to get it checked till it was too late. He now wears bag now and could have had it simply cleared if he went in early. Get it checked.

Stu,
I'm so glad to hear things are going well. Going to take your advice and get checked out at my next Drs. appointment in a couple of weeks. Back in 1989, I came into your shop and asked you if I could buy one of your old Huffy frames. You said that you weren't interested in selling one, instead you generously offered to let me borrow one to ride. I felt really honored to be able to race on it for a few months. When I returned it, I bought a Revcore frame from you (which I sold recently to pay some bills). Thanks for all you've done to help make BMX the great sport that it is.

Stuart,
I've been away from this site for some time and then I see this! It seems you are healing and recovering from your treatment quite well. Best wishes to you and your family, and thanks for sharing this with the community. I for one am going to go get checked as I am closer to 50 than I am to 40.
Hope to hook up with you soon.

Stu,
Thank you so much for posting about what you have been going though. It is very humbling to think how quickly our health can slip away from us.
You have always been such a great influence to all of us here on this site. I am glad you are recovering so quickly. Can hardly wait to hear how it goes when you get back on your bike!
Please keep us posted, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for tons of great memories.

Stu, Glad to hear you are getting better. I havent been on this site for awhile, and the news hit me hard. I just turned 43, and recently had my 1st PST. (I had been having 'problems' a 40-something man has) So I took the test. Luckily my score was normal. Anyways, all the best to you Stu.
Aloha Stu-
we are all blessed by the good news. God Speed and may you have a quick recovery.

Stu, glad all is much better and things are looking good.
You inspired me also to get a checkup, which I was due for.
Thank you for continuing to influence us.
Well I got my check up today which went great. Other than a sleeping disorder i'm the picture of health.
I would of NEVER gone & got this done without this thread, Thanks Stu.
