Putting someones name in the cons section for being "rude" is just plain stupid. As long as people are responsible and ship your parts, who cares if they're rude.

I think Rick has been hung out to dry! Ha ha ha
Stand strong Rick....give 'em he||!
No, I stand behind Rick 100% and alsways will.
I just think it will ooze trouble into other forums on the board if its not kept under tight supervision.
I'd never let Rick flail in the wind........

There seems to be some concern that (a) the forum will be un-monitored and (B) anybody will be allowed to say anything.
In both cases, such is not allowed to occur anywhere else on this site, and I don't see it happening here either.

With much love and respect to the powers that be, I've gotta say I think the "cons" section was not one of the best ideas implemented here. Not the idea itself, it's just the fact that a few people just can't help but throw the same bombs over and over again. Of course, I hope I am proven wrong. At least I hope it keeps the "BEWARE OF (insert name here)" threads from infesting the forums.
Woof, I just noticed that there's no opportunity to reply to the posts. That could be good or bad! What happens if someone gets posted in "cons" for a personal beef (don't say it won't happen)? Can't even have a side to the story. But if you COULD reply, then you'd have the flame wars going on again. Danged if you do....

I think it is a pretty good idea.
I've been messing with this hobby for 8+ years
and I've only had a couple of unpleasant experiences.
In hindsight I doubt that I would have posted any of these small problems in the cons forum because they were more internet/email-based communication errors than outright fraud.
***BUT....in those 8+ years I've seen about a half
dozen or so scoundrels pop up in this hobby that truly needed to be escorted out of town quickly.
I think this is where this forum could really help.
My criteria for posting in the cons forum would be that I suffered some form of loss or damages due
to intentional fraud or negligent misrepresentation, not just because my ego was bruised.

maybe the new section will be a reflection of "karma"-both good and bad.

The lack of a response capability, brings a "hit and run" scenario to mind. Kinda like an eBay negative. Even there, a guy gets a chance to respond to it.
I think It should be an open thread forum for many reasons. Such as, soliciting help in tracing user names to new accounts by the same shady seller. Things like that.
An open forum makes one think twice before pressing enter (though, not always, lol). It has a way of encouraging people get their ducks in a row before pulling the trigger, as a response is inevitable if there is anything out of order with the shot.
I think Hal will take the brunt of the responses, in the form of being the only one hearing the other side of the story, all the time, with demands that it be removed, since they can't respond on their own and defend themselves. Like a feedback moderator of eBay must feel like.
If someone calls someone out, it should be a fair fight. Someone may lose the shootout, but whether in defense or offense, they both should have a keyboard available for a fair fight to get to the bottom of the story.
