In 1985 (at the age of 16) I started to pull my '84 Skyway TA apart. The plan was to replace some of the parts that I wasn't happy with and also change the colour scheme which at the time was a bit of a mish-mash. I got part way done but then became distracted, so the project was never finished. When I moved out of my Dad's place about 4 years later I took the TA with me, but it had no wheels at the time (I'm not sure what wheels I originally had on it or what happened to them).

For the next 5 or 6 years, the TA lived in my mum's shed. Then on a shelf in my bedroom for a year or so when I shared a house with some friends. After my wife and I got married it lived in our hallway closet for about 7 years. We moved house just over 2 years ago and has since been living in our garage.

For the last 7 or so years I've been thinking about finishing the project I started long ago and getting it back on the road. Well I finally got it pretty much finished on the weekend when I was able to put on the new sealed bearing Tuff IIs that I received from Ed Ferri last week. And on Saturday afternoon I rode my TA for the first time in twenty-one years. It was awesome. I still can't believe that I was 16 when I last rode it. Now at 37, I just can't stop lookin' at it. I'm looking forward to taking it to the local track soon for a ride (I haven't ridden on a track in over 20 years). I wish I'd done this years ago, but hey, better late than never.

Cheers.

Great looking bike!

Great looking TA, You've done well to hold onto it for all these years. So many times I hear of people selling their prized possessions for some reason or another only to regret it years later and then try locating parts and building the bike they had when they were younger. I'm also guilty of this. So yeah, You've done well mate....Be proud.

Awesome! A very clean survivor!
Kurt.
Great job and perseverance to hold onto it all that time.

I'm sure most of the guys here have stories of their much loved and long since sold bikes - that's one story you don't have!

Sweet ride mate. Kurt
