Hey guys....
Keeping up with the growing Vintage movement, it looks like we will have HotShoppe design a new "Retro" Skyway race jersey. We had originally planned on only making a few of these for a couple sponsored riders that are currently using Graphites on their race bikes...but... it just makes economic sense to make up at least 25 or over to make it worthwhile. Our original plan to produce only 4 jerseys would cost $600!
So..... we would like to get over the 25 quantity jersey mark. By doing so, each jersey will be MUCH cheaper. We estimate that a personalized Skyway jersey (with your first or last name, or nickname) will cost about $75.00 each jersey. NON-personalized jerseys will be about $60.00 each.
If we can get 21 more jersey "commitments", we will have them made up.
Please add your name to this thread if you are interested in getting your very own Skyway jersey. Also, next to your name, place a number representing how many jerseys you want to order.

OK guys... Jimbo is "donating" his jersey (temporarily) so Dave at the Hot Shoppe can replicate the artwork.
After just doing the SE Retro jersey, Dave is excited to do a Skyway jersey next!
This is the style that we are going after, but of course, the jersey will be a totally different (and much better) material than what was used back in the day!
OK... final question.
Should we be a bit creative on the back of the jersey, or should it just say "Skyway" (in addition to the personalization)
Skyway had "Factory Team", and "Support Team". We can do a "Vintage BMX Team" or something... or we can just leave it alone...
What are your thoughts?!?

I like something about "Vintage BMX Team," though that may conflict w/the Vintage/Supercross team. Maybe something like "SKYWAY RECREATION" with "Old School Head" underneath it...

c.mon guys.... who else wants a Skyway jersey?

My plan is to gather the money from all interested parties early this coming week, and at that time, I'll give The Hot Shoppe the "green light" to begin the project. They will do the art work, then send me a proof of the final design (which will be posted here). Once it's approved, the jersey's will be made.
I am told that the turnaround time will be about 5 weeks.

For the Skyway Rockford thing I have the artwork for the old logo, and the Skyway lettering on the arms. It's on its way to you now.

By the way, I like the red lines on the arms too!

Also, I personally don't think they need any vintage stuff on the back. If that's stuff's on there, count me out. Just keep it clean and do a retro race jersey. By doing that you are already are giving the nod to the old schoolers crowd. Just my opinion.

Also, I have some great pix of Cheri Elliot with the mid-80's jersey on. They are black and white pix from a photo shoot done out at Chandler BMX in '84. Let me know if you would like a scan or two.

ahhhhh!
Red stripes....."USA"... all good things indeed.
That additional stuff dresses up the jersey a bit for sure.
Also.... changing "Skyway Recreation" to "Skyway Tuff Wheels" is a good idea...... if we can get Dave over at The Hot Shoppe to do that modification and do the art for it.

I might be just an old guy but I prefer the "Tuff Wheels" logo. I'm cool with the "USA" logo too. They definately need the stripes though.
