HAHA I SAW THAT TODAY does this guy have a clue
Jet Black
My brother & I had a chuckle over the plate & the price !!!
We never saw this model Oakley number plate released in Australia , but do remember lots of people driving in cars with that "unclear protection" sticker on them after we had stopped racing.
We think it's a fake , so we won't be bidding.

We'll stick to using the geniune old Haro Series 1 & Haro Mesh Plates etc , for our bikes.

JB
AndyDiamond
he may as well just add "I'm a knob-end" to the listing....
nitrotwang
Makes about as much sense as the rest of the high end bmx stuff that is selling...$500 for a 79 Haro plate (plastic).. $400 for a Jmc seat post (cromo)....$300 looseball Shimano DX pedals (Japanese)....it's all the same to me.
Torkerpro
What a dope!!!!
Ringer
I would go $220 on that, but $250 seems a little much
Ted Carl
Wasn't there another guy making number plates bitd? Hero? Hare?

That one looks like an original Oakley too!

That's probably why I can't remember the other guy's name, he probably copied those Oakley plates.

Ooooh, 250 viewers, I better get my bid in before it gets a BN...
Jet Black
Your right Ted !

Damm , my generous 9 cent bid was blown away by whoever put their first bid down , they now want me to enter 14cents or more , I don't know if I can play in this high dollar cut throat auction.
I wonder what his reserve price is , it's sort of like playing russian roulette on Ebay , if you tap the reserve price you get the loaded chamber.

Oakley's "Thermonuclear Protection" campaign was just about the most annoying slogan ever worn by ten zillion half-zip bootleg windbreaker owners at Anybeach, USA. It was a flourescent rainbow nightmare!
AndyT
Wasn't that campaign in the very late-80s anyway?

I remember re-arranging the letters to read "Thermal Erection" ...ya, we were kinda stupid in those days.

I think I might still have some of those in the 'box of old junk'...
seadooit
the decal is not even close to straight..nice one...not center..i have some of those decals in orange and red if someone wants to make themselves a oakley plate.....
o.s.Luma
Yah, whats up with the off center sticker placement??? for that amount that plate should offer some personal services... prices of things rare or not are getting out of hand. The perceived value on some of these items need a reality check!

Florida Vaughn
Do you guys see it in the original bag? I don't see a bag at all?? Smelling fishy!!

Crap, I found the bag...must be NOS then...

Spicoli

BRIAN HAYS
I swear to God, if I see one more BMX auction with the word RARE in it, I'm gonna explode. More on that later. Right now I've got to exercise my right to use Buy it Now.
byron
I still prefere these

o.s.Luma
I threw down a .87 bid to add insult to injury;) wonder where that reserve is set?
Jet Black
The original bidder brent_gardner1999 seems dead serious on keeping his lead , 82 cents & 417 views , you need to bid 87 cents if you want in on the action.

I have these even rarer NOS unopened old school Hutch Radioactive Handlebar Streamers that I've been holding on to for a while , they'd go perfectly with the Oakley Number Plate.

$299 US & free shipping.

Oakley Eyeshades, oh you laugh now...
Byron, I've got the same pair you're wearing, plus a couple of others. Paid $25 - $35 each. Just a week or so ago, a white framed pair with the vented Iridium lense went for $202.50 on eBay!!
I'm keeping mine though, Ben Bostrom's been sportin' Eyeshades on the podium recently at AMA roadracing events...

BLAZERBMX
Hey Byron, are those for welding?
Ramon a.k.a Beaner
Byron uses those ogle the b oobies at hooters!

I wouldn't buy that "Oakley" plate, it doesn't have velcro, everyone knows "Oakley" used velcro!
BMX2112
LOL!! Where are all these 1-off plates coming from??
plate auction
BRIAN HAYS
Man, if a sticker is all it takes, I'll be back later. I've gotta go make some Hutch plates.

Byron, I swear if you had a long wig, you would look just like John Bon Jovi circa 1986. Livin on a prayer man.

I've been known to show up at the track wearing those shades, and I raced with them BITD
Ted Carl
24 bucks?
No further comment.......
Jet Black
reilly1's bidding rampage from $3.01 to $6.01 !!!! showed some guts but , bidders like buckyjohnson & above are obviously the high rollin risk takers on Ebay Russian Roulette.
I think the high rollers would use one of the new derringers with the a hot 45/70 & .410 in each barrel to play. Deniro in The Deerhunter has nothing on these guys <heh>

Is the original bidder , brent_gardner1999 , a member here or just an unwitting player ?

Waay too rich for me to play now , but just wait until Ebay sends out a promo that offers me free listings....I got 2 NOS Hutch seatpost's to sell one straight the other one's a layback.
I won them in a raffle when I was a kid too.

JB
agentheinz
LMAO those are the SAME PLATES!!! Just different stickers. Brings back fond mems though, of BITD when every Mustang and Camaro in town had that Oakley stickie on there, just a couple feet above the neon twin-blade windshield wipers.
Ted Carl
Truth be known, I actually had a genuine Oakley car bitd.

I put Mustang stickies all over it.

Thermonuclear Protection. Sounds more like something a manufacture would say about protecting your eyes from the sun. I guess those plates protected your bike from projectiles or something? Strange mantra for a number plate manufacturer.
