Saw a "squareback" being ridden by a kid today while driving to work. Not being truly vintage savy, I thought maybe I was looking at a Redlike. It was yellow, with seatpost, but no seat, and had some kneesaver bars. I asked the kid if was interested in selling it, he said no, but he did have a Huffy for sale.
Thinking about it now, I should have said I was interested in the Huffy, just so I could get his number...
I searched the museum, and I've decided that I was looking at a Gurney, not a Redline. It even had the correct forks...

Did the Gurney have the CBR style gussets?
Uh, like I said, I'm not real savy on this stuff.
I just saw the bike while driving, and caught the square tube chainstays. The headtube gusset had one hole, and the seatstay gusset had two. I didn't see the gusset for the chainstays. Is this where the CBR gussets are? Bottom bracket to chainstay?
Also, the forks looked like those on the Cononetz Gurney in the museum.
I saw all this without actually ever getting out of the car.
Maybe I'll drive through that neighborhood a little more now...

In the 70's seats were not issued until you won 5 novice races.
