Just came home with this yesterday. Had a little surface rust, but it cleaned up nicely. I don't remember these from back in the day.

Anyone know the story on these?

Maximum BMX was a small company out of California started by Larry Hess. It was later sold to the Bergman family, Eric Vaughn Bergman is a member of this site and the son of the second owner.

Maximum made frame, forks and bars along with soft goods. Some stuff was made by GT and others were made by VDC. The forks legs look identical to GT Santa Ana fork legs. They also sold team apparrel like goggles, pants, jerseys, and helmets.

I remeber seeing a few of them back in the day. A Calgary rider, Jeff Ingram, (as seen in RAD!) was a on factory Maximum, had a 20 & 24. Killler race bikes from what I remember. Just saw him the other day at the track... and, no, he no longer has those bikes.
Bergman
I'm probably the one that put the stickers on that frame back when.
Mocaboy,
I remember meeting Jeff when he came down to Cali in 87 for that race at Irvine, I can't remember the name of the sanction that was trying to form. I still got a pic of me and him under a Maximum banner.

Anybody remember a kid from Traverse City, Michigan who was Factory Maximum named Shawn Alpers? He went on to be an awesome football player for TC high and later Central Michigan University. Nice kid, cool family too.
Randy
I do. Shawn was a natural talent, he was placing at nationals his first year in the sport. His father who at one time held several Michigan softball league records drove us to races everywhere in 1982/3.

As you mentioned, Shawn was equally impressive on the football field. About 5 years ago I found him at classmates.com, he was dealing BMW's in Indianapolis.

Do I know you?

There's someone here who posted a whole collection of those a while back, who was that?

Nice find, definitely worth keeping.
