I pretty much have a standing reservation for gate 8 at every NBL track. I can't tell you how many wins I had from the outside. But I do know with the new rules it would be alot tougher to snap and put the blinker on...
At ABA races it always seemed like I had gate 1....
Post some videos please....
P.S. I am gonna wreck someone on the ice tonight!!

I raced at Cool-Tool all the way through pretty much. I was younger than the "old guys" like the Williams bros but I've got a ton of pics from the Eagle BMX days. And how about that Schwinn Track in Henrietta? I remember a few races there but nothing like the memories from Eagle and Cool-Tool. i still have my HUTCH and my uniform. Sophmore year in highschool (86), I was tied for first in that NY state champ series (15X) but my stupid football coach says "you go to that race and don't bother showing up for practice"...and that was the end of my BMX career...until I made the transfer around 26 to racing slalom after college. Had a little series in Texas on a course I designed. Still ripping at 36!! Raced USA champs this year for DH but DNF'd. Nice to connect. Anyone remember me? Tall redhead kid...night racing at the Tool ruled! Me and Joel Mosher use to battle it out in 14-15X!! I had "THE FLAME" on my race pants not realizing the implications of such a word at the time...dork!

Happy New Year to everyone!!
The Henrietta track (Yahtzi's ?) was cool! Dan and I used to get watched for gate jumps when we raced there. They couldn't understand how we could come out of the gate so fast. We also used to jump the triples on the 4th straight. That track was fun to ride....
Those were some good times with Southtown's in Buffalo and Niagara. You could race 4 times a week. Almost makes me want to break out the Natty or the JMC. Look out Andy Lee.......

that gate...skateboard wheel on the end of a pipe..if you were in gate 1 or 8 you had a foot on everyone coming out the gate because it bowed out so much (wood)
you better get on that bike dude, you were like national number ONE for 86547383763 years...what the flip are u waiting for? and dont say 'foot' either mr.hockey camp...mmhmm lol

Andy that bike is SICK! Let me throw some slam bars on that and I will DEFINATELY make a comeback! No clips just pure horsepower baby....
That gate was hilarious, if I remember right the starter would hit some lever with a hammer or something. Gate 8 was actually overgrown halfway down the first straight, BIG SNAP & a hard left. Look out I'm coming over!
As far as hockey goes....I'm gonna flip someone Friday with an old school hip check....hahahahahahahahaha

Dude - Me and Big Rog emptied out the garage and the attic. Put all the trophies on the driveway and took some pics and then heaved them into a dumpster. I think I had somewhere around 1200. Crazy! That doesn't even count the NBL nationals from '90 - '99, except for the grands and BIG races. Don't worry I didn't chuck some of the good ones.
That place in NYC looks pretty cool. I have driven by it a bunch of times. I may check it out this spring, I will bring the 20" and the Giant STP. I think I can hang there....just no big one-footers or can-cans anymore. Gotta sneak the bikes there so I won't get in trouble....haha. I can probably impress some of the younger kids with my high-speed standup wheelies. Plus I can do some skids for them....hahahaha. Probably throw my old-a$$ out.
I gotta bring a shovel and dig me some sick quads. Man I miss the days of riding the Pines. We did some crazy things there. Doing 80 mph through the trees, surprised nobody killed themselves back then. Well Baby Huey almost did, knocked himself out cold....actually I did that too.....hahahaha.

Well guys I have been gone for a while but I am now back. New for 2008, I was just elected President of the Waukegan BMX board in December and I am looking forward to making Waukegan BMX the best track in Illinois. If there are any Old School New Yorkers that want to come and see and race just drop me a line. The track has a great new BOD and we are looking forward to a great 2008 season. We are going to keep the Old School shows that we had last season. These will be once a month. Also in the works are paved berms, starting hill and a little track redesign.
Best to all.

Raced the nationals there in 1985 and 1986, I believe (13 and 14 X). I have a couple gate pics. of my brother and I. I think I have one of the AA gates with Sean Texas, Leary, and a few others. If I can find a scanner, I'll post the pics. I think they are from 1985. Fun track. I think I might have made my main there once, but I can't remember. We raced a ton of nationals back then.

Whitey's still here. Come on bro. Move to Cali! LOL!
Ken Aman still here? Ken, did you ever see your cruiser main on dvd from the 81' Indy Jag Worlds?
Invisibleman and I have been hitting practice at Bellflower on Monday nights.
Soon it'll be the World famous Orange YMCA track on Wednesdays too.
Funny cause you can tell Invisibleman and I used to REALLY race back in the day
from our riding style. The other older guys don't seem to show the same skill.
But some of them are pretty darn fast in their own right. Not knockin anyone.
We ride pretty hard out there. We're compettitive, but we're definately having fun.
I did about 20 gates and Invisibleman did about 30 since he showed up early.
For about 2 straight hours, imagine a full gate of riders between 33 and 45 trying to WIN PRACTICE!

No, but I remember the move. Really felt I had a chance to win it if I didn't draw the outside lane. Went into the first turn way too hot (or maybe I just didn't have enough hairspray on the tires). Put my foot out to block the inside and maybe kicked a tire or 2. Mindset before the gate dropped was World Champion or nothing!!! I did end up getting that title 2 years later in Burbank. Not one of my prouder moments, but you can't blame a guy for being intense...LOL.

For the last few days, we've been having a heatwave in So. Cal.
I'm not sure Invisibleman and I are gonna hit Bellflower BMX track tonight.
They had a ABA Race For Life there last Sat.
It was so crazy hot, I was "totally spaced out" watching the mains.
I saw the guys I raced against lining up. IT WAS MY MAIN!
They were waving at me trying to break my zone! LOL!
I ran up there, made em wait a few mins to get my gear on,
Totally SNAPPED EVERYONE HARD out of the gate,
hit the first jump wrong and got squirlled out, and then got passed again at the finish.
I choaked! From first to last in 30 something seconds. LOL!
Someone I know was a no show.........cough cough........ But he was being a good dad, so it's all good!
Seriously,
Invisibleman has serious pull after about two cranks out of the gate. SCARY!
AND pulls up before pretty much ALL the jumps! RAD!
We have a good time riding out there.

Hey you former upstaters... the new track in Newark opens this summer:
http://www.upstatebmx.com - not much info yet.
Been riding during the winter at xdreams skatepark in Rochester. Recovering from separated shoulder about 6 weeks ago (hung up on a spine and went down hard)
We're two weeks into racing season up here. My last race as a 30-something. Look out 40-45 cruisers next week! The shoulder is sore today, worked on the rhythm section today on the cruiser and starting to get some sharp pains when pulling up. Hard for me to get used to manualing the cruiser at speed when I ride a 20" park bike all week.
CNYBMX in Bridgewater (20 min south of utica) will be having an NBL national this summer.
Saw Goracy at the bike shop buying his kid a Redline mini. Will have to get a hold of him and see if he plans on getting on the track... told him even to just get out to practice... riding is all good!

I don't know if I know you but I grew up in Palmyra and strated racing at Cool Tool in 1985. I was the one who also started the NBL track that was in Macedon for a year. I am going to be back in town for a wedding on June 14th (Guy Andrews) Pines rider BITD. I am also a long time friend of Jason from X Dreams. Now I migh thave to bring the bike back home and race. Yo boys - I'm still hanging around. Been moving the last couple weeks so I haven't been on so much.
I have to say Kenny was THE MAN. My all time favorite pic is of him with a hand full of brakes going into turn 1 at Louisville. He laid the horses down to Kakouris and Anderson and realized he was going WAY too fast....haha. That must have been a crazy main!
Invisible gets his old school pick up for the jumps from me and DJ. He watched us do it for years and perfected it....hahaha. We all rode the same. And dude you NEVER had a gate. ABA I used to leave on "WATCH" the gate....snap and hope the gate falls....
Johnny I may have to make a road trip to Cali and see if I can hang with you guys. I know Buckle knows I have some skills ('98 NBL Grands). Snnnaaaaaapppppp!!!!

1st ABA race I ever went to I was having trouble with the gate. Before the main Brian Foster tells me to leave when the starter says "watch". I'm like its BF its gotta work. Long story short left on watch, my gate was so good I thought for sure I was going to get called for a jump. Lead into the 1st turn and BF passes me down the 3rd straight. 2nd place, couldn't have been happier....
