Kawahara?? Tange Japan stamped on bb, Tange fork

could be a kuwahara but it could also be a Cycle Pro Bonzai. The frames are both built by Tange and damn near identical.

Does it have one of those "GO128" type serial numbers?

Those tend to be the "in-house" brand bikes on a lot of odd balls out there from back in the Day.
