Full Version: Frame "inserts"?

Does anyone remember the the plastic (lexan?) pieces that you could mount in the front of frames, filling the entire front triangle? I think that most of them were clear with a checkerboard stripe. I remember seeing ads for them in the mags, I think that Super BMX had a centerfold of John Stamos on a bike with them on it. (My sister, who thought that my obsession with BMX was rediculous, quickly ripped out the centerfold and put it on her wall of all things Stamos).

Anyone have a picture of these?... Inserts, not Stamos.

From another thread (pic courtesy of RL). Here's your front triangle insert with a bonus: rear triangle inserts! Ugh. From Super Cheesy BMX magazine, of course.

Wow, those are just about as fugly as I remember them to be. I take it they didn't sell too well, I have never actually seen them outside of the pages of Super BMX.
