found this dude in the trash, someone tried removing the seatpost and gave up.its not that bad of shape.i think if i get the post out i could use a large double bolt seatclamp to pinch it back to round.what forks would be ok to use???do not really like the ashtubula fork and i know im not going to stumble on a square webco fork.did they come white??? the decals are cracked and old...rubon style...i like the foxtail sticker....any info / help will be appreciated

Great save!!
It's a shame someone ruined an otherwise nice survivor finish. Possibly you could just touch up that area.

I can't say for sure, but it looks very "correct". I'd guess it was a later model by the graphics and the "Fox" decal.
I'm sure one of the Webco pro's will let us know for sure.

The Last of the WEBCOS ! Late 80 maybe early to mid 81. Use Tange or Redline forks Repowder in white and put some prisim decals because those decals are impossible to find due to the last gasps for breath right before they folded and got out of BMX! Good save! Now bring it back to life and welcome to webcoville!

Since the decals are in such good condition, maybe someone here can turn you on to someplace to make them for you.
Me, I'd try to save as much of that finish as I could.

Seadooit,
I have a set of forks like the ones on this bike that are date coded 1980 and powdered the same color as this frame that I'd be willing to let go if you are interested.

someone touched it up at sometime.you can see tape lines, and the dropouts are all nicked up but painted white.if you look at the nick in the headtube it apears it was originally white

i should have took a before picture ..it was covered in a thick layer of dust .like it had been in a autobody shop or something.that black does not clean off and where the paint is bubbling from heat is coming off.the decals are not that bad now that i soaked them with silicone spray.it will need a repaint or powder.looks like someone painted it before trying to get the post out.the dropouts need a little attention but look like they never had a wheel in there since touchup jop.do you really think it is worth repairing??it is a little before my timeframe of bmx.

thanks for the fork offer.i have one that style.this is what i think is cool ,the square brake bridge.you can really see the yellow tint it has in this picture.it is from that thick dust.

pm sent.not sure if i want to part with it...i sure do not need another project.i see motomags ,blue snap pads, mongoose gold stem and a few other blue parts involved.these decals are rubons and look fairly easy to remake. getting over the seatpost hump would be the hardest part..

Good luck with the restore! The hard part is over! You have made a score/save so why not keep going forward and finish? It's already gotten some TLC from the dusting! Repop the decals and make two sets! One for you and one for me! LOL

fix it. rebuild it. the frame found you for a reason. do as an earlier poster said and have them remove the post for you. that would clean up really nicely, and you'd have a neat trophy. few would have what you do. and the bike would be back in full glory again.
do it.

I have it now. The machinist at my office reamed out the old post and one of our welders is fixing the chain rub spot. It will be off to powder after that.
