#JR800333. oval decals on head tube and bottom rail missing, fork stickers also missing. definitely a smaller bike. can anyone help?

Maybe a Mini Sting?Do you have any pics?

pics would help, is it a 5" headtube? The Sting was a pretty long bike and doubtful it would look small.
I think the tubes on the sx-2000 were dbl-butted,
could be wrong, never had one but I remember really liking the look.
You might find some comparisons in the museum.

Its not a sting with that serial. If it looks small it may be a mini sting. Its a 1980 what ever it is. Post a pic.

can someone give me the top tube length of the comp and or the mini. this bike is small compared to my mid 80's bikes but maybe that is how they are in 80. only born in 77 so this was not a bike i was riding

Toptube length on a mini is about 16.5" center to center.

Very sweet scoot, bur. What's the deal on that
shallow angle layback post? Was that factory?
I never dealt much with Schwinn post-Scrambler
but that post looks perfect for a project or two I've got in mind.

ok than this is definitely a comp. it is a little less than 18.5 from center of head tube to center of seat tube. 17" end to end

The seat post is new. I bought it on ebay for a newer Quadangle and ended up using it on this. I had to use a shim.

The easy way to spot a mini from a distance is the 4 inch head tube. The oval head badge will almost span the height of it. All the standards had 5 inch head tubes, leaving a good space between the oval and the headset.
It is a comp.
Any other bidders on the bars? Oh yeah, me too....! lol

I keep having people ask about the bars. by email, posting, pm, etc. i am just waiting for someone call and snail mail and that will complete all normal forms of communication.
If i part the bike or sell as is i will post in the for sale section or ebay. i am not sure what i am doing yet. It is a neat bike that might need rebuilding.
