Hey anyone have a picture of the Larry Wilcox racing team in a couple of issues of Bmx Plus from the early 80's?

Did he or did he not make parts or frames? I don't remember but I think his team or company was called "Sunshine Bmx" or something like that...could I be wrong?

Encinas was sponsored by him in the late '70's. He had Larry Wilcox stickers on his bike and they used Bobby in any ad's they made.

Man, I remember when I was a little clueless kid just getting into BMX and sort of liking those Super BMX (worst mag ever) features with Ricky Schroeder and Shannon Doherty (sp?) and STILL thinking "man, that bandwagon-jumping Wilcox guy looks kind of cheesy"

I tried Googling "Wilcox" and "BMX" with no luck, but I did find this amusing Wilcox story:

quote:
I remember an A.B.A. race in Fremont, CA. Larry Wilcox was making his BMX debut, and the race announcer let everybody know he was getting ready to do a few practice laps. With all eyes on, he charges straight armed off the gate, pedals to the first "speed bump" (no ****, 8 inches high) and endos horribly, breaking his collarbone and shutting practice down for 45+ minutes. Guess it was a little too extreme. Never did like that guy anyways.

Well, if it helps, I found out through a ghost town BMX forum that the centerfold was on the August 1983 issue Super BMX. He's all over that mag apparently.

Jeeez..I thought the guy actually knew what he was doing as far as bmx goes but apparently from that story he seemed like he did'nt know much about the sport.

Well at least kid he have any real good racers on his team or just a bunch of nobody's?

Tone thanks for the glove pic.

the race where Wilcox crashed was a celebrity race - right in front of a huge crowd - lol!

Thing is, Wilcox BMX crashed and burned too.

Still, you can never diss CHiPs!!!!!

How about Bonnie!

"wilcox action line BMX" even the name was horrible.

Encinas came to our local track to do some clinics. I don't remember the clinics but I do remember Encinas had a Swatch watch. First time I had ever seen one. Weird what you remember sometimes.
