Being 40 today and 30 years in BMX thought I would share my '75 Redline that I got in '76 actually. This was at Rockford this year and thanks for all the great comments on it!

Randy, here are the pics you requested...

CBR, 7b's, Cheng Shins, and double butted spokes

Campy drive train, Sedis chain, Union pedals
(Rick I do have a set of diamond cranks)

'75 Sqareback

'75 gusset with Speedo pads, Schwinn seatpost clamp, post, and Mesinger seat

Schwinn "Redline" Bendix 76 coaster brake

Redline prototype stem with DG bars and Oury grips

'75 Squareback

thanks for looking,

J.T.

That's cool - who makes the stem?

I stared at this bike for a long time @ rockford. Sweet it was.

Awesome build! My first race bike was a squareback, too.

I had that same wheelset for my squareback, but a rear CBR hub is too wide. Coaster hub would have been the perfect solution. What did you use for a seat and post?
J.T.
Schwinn seatpost clamp, steel seatpost, and Mesinger seat.

That bike brings back some fond memories of working in the REDLINE machine shop- working on the chops saw (prepping frame and handle bar tubing) , punch press ( punching out gussets, drop outs and serial numbers) , Bridgeport mill (fish mouthing tubes) , tube bender ( making bars, chain stays and forks)

Luis the Welder (The man behind the infamous beautiful REDLINE welding bead) would them work his magic with the torch. The magic of Louis the Welder is pretty much an untold story in REDLINE history.

Another important guy behind the REDLINE quality goes by the name of Bud. Bud was the shop foreman and a big part of the whole quality assurance control panel at Redline Northridge and Chatsworth locations.

Ha ha…I’d some times work the chop saw for up to two weeks, I remember riding home from work hacking up 4130 Cr-Mo dust Lugies!!

a very nice suprise when I saw it in Rockford !!! as a Redline freak I was glad to see this somewhat obscure model get some attention !! I love it !!!

That thing is perfect! I loved it in Rockford, too. The redstripe Bendix is awesome, too. I'm lucky enough to have one myself. I remember reading a Dennis Dain interview (I want to say it was in Super BMX) where he talked about the redstripe Bendix being super smooth. It is. Man, I love that bike!

Sweet mother of 75 SBs! This thread is making me want to rebuild mine, but mine is a little one with no gusset...

Tommy,

Sweet! Curious on your serial #

Yeah...we need some more 75's since the 76er's get all the attention...lol

The stem is a Redline Prototype before the stamped Redline clamps came out.

OK, I have a picture of a '75. Wait a sec. It's a picture of your '75 osrl. Oh well, here it is anyway. I dig the crap outta the forks. Cash Mathews offered him $20 bucks for 'em. Tommy turned him down. I'm sure he was tempted to sell though.

That thing is just sweet to no end. I had a great time checking it out at Rockford. Hope you didn't think I was being critical. Just trying to relay some info
