You mean this Torker? This bike is a favourite of mine. One nice looking machine.

Do a search on here. I'm sure someone mentioned Jason Jensen a while back.

When was that pic taken? 1981?

If so, is that a chrome 7X up front? Sorry if this is off topic but I'm desperately trying to date a chrome 7x. Thanks.

Those are gold anodized Araya 7X rims...same as the Shimano 600 cranks and everything else on that bike...Chrome 7X came out when Hutch started doing it with Rich Farsides custom black and chrome bike so it was more of a custom thing on the East Coast in late 1980-early 1981, John McNeil, Tim Judge, etc... I think by '82 they were made for the public from Araya or its distributors.

Those aren't gold annodised &x's. They've been copper plated, as have all the other components on that bike. It specifically states in the article that Jason Jensens dad had that done, and that Torker were so impressed, they were considering doing a replica bike model for retail. It also says that the parts were clear coated to avoid the copper going green.

Martin, I dont recall seeing chrome 7x's here in NZ until late 84, which means that they probably came out around late 1982/early 1983? We seemed to be about a year behind. Thats just my opinion though.

If any is interested, I'll scan the whole article and post it later today

Yeah I think I remember something about that Torker being copper plated now that you mention it..I'm mixing it up with Kyle Flemings DG racer that was black and gold anodized...wonder where that Torker is now, i'd like to see if the copper plate held up after 30 years.?

Does anybody have pics of Jason when was racing for Nomura?

those hubs look like campy. anyone have a different angle pic?
J.T.
The hubs are Shimano Dura Ace and were the toughest things to find for my build. Converted them to 9 and 10 mm track axles with Shimano axle nuts, $20 each or $80

Pictures to come

You should get a pair of old school Vans Bronzed.

JT, that JJ Torker was so sweet! Glad you took the prize for it.

Steef,

Thanks!

Had to strip the anodizing off, nickel, copper, brasso, then clear coat all the parts before any finger prints were on them. A tedious process to say the least. Had to actually manage the plating due to items being incorrect. Had to learn quick since this was all being done on June 13th
