Hi there,
I have just had NOS Sugino Maxy Cross from my best freind for my Diamond Back Project so anyone could help me, what specs of the chain & freewheel do I need to look at.

Please please help.....

either 43 or 44 or 45 front, 16 on rear. most people just go with 44-16, chain is usually just a 1/8"

Yeah, most common is 44:16 and good for show.

Assuming you are building a rider or racer, this can be tweaked based on your riding needs, track, and/or tire size. Each tooth change in the back is equal to more than two in the front... meaning a chain wheel change will give you a finer adjustment; while, a freewheel change will be much more dramatic.

I assume you have the stock Sugino chainring for those Maxi Crosses? If not, it should color match both arms & spider and have the smooth finish like the spider... Preferably with raw teeth although I have seen full anno rings as well.

Here are some gear ratio chart links if you're still interested... or even want that much information...
