" I think I'll hang up these wheels sitting on the garage floor"....
becomes
this after pulling wheels from the office, the garage, the hall closet, the workbench, under the workbench, miscellaneous boxes....
this is not a good thing.

LOL! i thought i'd only need two rows... and used all the hooks i had laying around (yellows and reds). had to take a trip to the Home Depot to get another 20!
and there's still a wheel lying on the bench in the background.

Famous last words! LOL
Man that is a lot of hoops.
If you need more room just use a rod and 2 hooks (to hang the rod on) and slide your rims onto the rod.
But the way you have it now is more pleasing to the eye.
I'll assume that if I divide the # of wheels by 2 that you've got that many projects in da woiks. WOW!

i used the rod & hooks approach for awhile, but, dang it, every time i needed a wheel it was in the middle of the pole!

Did you know the trick for those hooks?
Chuck the threaded end of a hook into your drill and start the hook for the ceiling into the pilot hole then hook the two together and squeeze the trigger.

re: Artificial Art Official...
in the late '80s/early '90s Robbie Conal would give away posters after nights of plastering them all over town. he'd drop the leftovers off at a book shop in Santa Monica. i got 1/2 doz different ones over the years from there. freeeeebies!
now if Ben could only dig up that DG Performance Specialties banner for me...
and if i only had a Webco to put those wheels on...

Interesting tid bit of info. Was the bookshop the Midnight Special?
TIM
Jun 13 2006, 07:22 PM
yup! Midnight Special, then on the 3rd St Promenade, now gone... a victim of corporate chainstore mentality and the disneyfication of american culture.
met Conal there twice. they used to run guerrilla postering crews out of there.

That about figures right. I purchased a few hard to get books from the Midnight Special. They could always find a source for my requests.
I have (used to) see his work around all the time.
Small world.

back then the posters were political statements to be glued to sign posts and construction walls. now they are art. the early stuff hits hard. the newer stuff is almost a caricature.

I am a builder, he or his squads, put product on at least one of the buildings I built in Santa Monica in the 90s.
I was am also a student of U.S. Policy and agree with your assessment of his work.
In fact one of my current clients has a signed print in an expensive frame in her office.
Right on the money.
