I tried this before and it didn't work, so we'll try this again!!! My 9 year old daughter decided to start collecting bikes about a year ago. Her very 1st bike in her collection is a looptail mini ripper! 80-81ish!!! We were thrilled when she chose this bike and has decided to stay with old school SE's, with the exception of her 04 Ripper jr which she races!! I know, it's fuji, and not even close to old school, but it was RREEEAAALLLLYYY cheap and it does ride good! Her old school mini ripper is still her favorite though!! Now she is trying to talk her dad out of his looptail quad/str-1(one of the very first SE's ever made). It has no serial number, so you can imagine she is having a hard time talking him into letting her have it let alone race it!!!! She's getting close though! We have our local vintage show/race coming up, how sweet it would be to see a 9 year old on that old of a SE!!Now she is wheeling and dealing to get a 98 mini ripper new in the bag!!!! SWEET!!! As you can tell she likes the ripper line and is trying to move to the quad line! Any thoughts?

You're a, you're still getting this Internets thing worked out, I take it?

I'll Email one of the mods about maybe moving your post to a more appropriate forum on the board, instead of down here in the hallucinatory squawking of The Cafe.

Your best bet, in the future, is kind of lurk around and read some of the other posts to see if that's the right forum for you, then pull the trigger. The Cafe's like the back room of a bar and you go in there and some guy's having his eye gouged out after welshing on a bet (and there's bats and clowns dancing on the ceiling and strange music ... next thing you know you're a hippie and wanting to live in a van on a hemp farm or ... you're a fascist and spend your evenings loading ammo and drinking beer in preparation for the coming apocolypse ... but mostly it's the bats and clowns that get to you, they're there all the time, on the ceiling, dancing, always dancing, you try to get away but you can't, stop dancing, please you bats and clowns, stop dancing. But they won't.)

Yep! Still figuring it all out! You could say I'm a "computer idiot"! Just starting out, so please bare with me!
I haven't had a problem with the bats and clowns, but the Jerry Bears and skeletons can be scary!LOL!!!!!

Thank you to whomever got me in the right place! Sorry 'bout that! So any old school SE comments?
Burbbully
I raced in 1979-1980 in Itaska, Illinois. My brother and I raced Schwinn. Every kid wanted a Pk Ripper or a Quad but very few had the means to get one. Back then as long as you had a BMX you can race and the bike didn't make you win or lose, that was up to you. Regardless, any kid with an SE bike was the envy. Now 37, I own a Quad as well as my Sting Comp and Scrambler and in my opinoin, any big kid (All of us) with an SE is still envied. Although I love all old school BMX I am still partial to SE Racing's style and quality.

Burbbully, Nice quad! I agree if you had/have as SE you were/are envied! When we take our old mini ripper and our old quad/str-1, we have kids of all ages comment on them! 5 year olds to 75 year old(maybe older?) comment, and all good comments too! We love them!!

i dreamed of a quadangle frame when i rebuilt my bike after i noticed that my pre-owned (and maybe pre-cracked) MCS Z-1 had a head tube crack.

however, as a 14 year old i could, with a lot of savings, only afford (and bought) a chromoly front triangle mongoose.

of course, now i'm a grown up and my wife is very understanding...

it IS true: PKs and Quads were the dream bikes (Cook Bros was also pretty hot)
SLAYER
How about posting a pic of the STR-1!

i was wondering about the bar placement?

then i noticed your from Chicago.

Here ya go Slayer! Hope ya enjoy!!! By the way, my daughter did talk her dad out of this bike! It was hers for about 2 hours before she had it traded!! She did good though, she got a 95 Mini Ripper & Landing Gear Lites, NOS, still in the bags! She also got some vintage stickers and what not..., but she has some more stuff still coming from the deal! And she's only 9 doing all this "wheeling and dealing"!!!!
Well, here it is!!!

I 2nd Slayer's request!! Your 100% right about anyone with an SE bitd was the most envied kid in town.... But where i grew up there wasn't too many kids that had them as a everyday rider....
But now that i'm older Mum and Dad have no say i what kind of bike i can have.. (Ahhh the joy's of being 34!) So i've gone and got a loop PK & Floval and a 89 Quad.... But i won't be fully happy till i've got both a loop OM and Mini Ripper as well.... It's not too much to ask in my opinion !

Good luck on that quest Scotty!!!! I'm looking, well my daughter is looking, to fill that line also!!! If you happen to come across any extras let me know!! LOL!!!
She is looking to build the biggest SE collection ever! Might take her a minute, but we support her in her quest!
Hope you enjoyed the pic!!!

Go get yer loop back. Your daughter got taken and bad. 98 SE = $200. Loop quad frame = $1000+. Remember to gouge the guy's eye out for stealing from a girl. Does this go back to the cafe now?
OLDSKOOLPK
where did that loop Quad go???? Traded to who???
i would have bought her two NOS whatevers for that frame....that is my Holy Grail upon all holy-ness

Nice to hear that a 9 year old has been hooked to SE already!!!!

Thanks for the concern guys, but no need to gouge out any eyes! The quad went back home, so to speak, back to its "original" owner, ya know the guy who made it!!!! Trust me, she did not get ripped off! Her deal is not complete yet. She got waaaaaaayyy more than the nos Mini Ripper and has much more still coming! This is only the begining of a VERY GOOD trade for her, just the 1st of many bikes and things to come! Plus, she has another quad, exactly like this one, coming to her very, very soon! Yeah, she's been "wheeling & dealing" some more! The one that is coming is from a seperate deal, it also has no serial number and is one of the very first ones made! It's in even better shape, no damage to the drop outs and what not! I'll be sure to post pics of it as soon as we get it! I don't think she wants to get rid of this one, but keep the offers coming....you never know what might just sound good to her! We won't let her get ripped off, but they are her bikes and her deals, and so far she has done great!
JennBMXmom
Ohhhhh, and the quad that is coming is not just a frame! It's a complete bike with all era correct parts!!! It sits just like it was built in the late 70's, profile box cranks, araya 7 b's w/ shimano hubs, etc!!!!
So do the offers go up from here? $1,000.00 doesn't sound like nearly enough to me!!!!
OLDSKOOLPK
Hmmm.... im interested...very much...i would trade one of my show bikes for a loop Quad, all except my Loop PK.... if ur serious.... PM me.... if not...please keep it and take it to your grave!!!! Morbid...but to the point!!!

Jon
JennBMXmom
PMing you now!
