Hello !
My name is Romain Nusbaumer, I'm a Swiss lumberjack and Old school BMXer (I'm 36). I'm new here and very happy to can talk to Old school BMX lovers. I've the possibility to buy a Mongoose frame in good condition. The serial number is J4000946. It's a looptail frame with 2 holes in the dropouts. I suppose that is an october 1984 frame. The seller told me that it's a Supergoose. But how can I be sure that's a Supergoose (it has no more the original decals of Supergoose of this period) and where was it built, in the USA, or in Taiwan ?
Many thanks to help me and great salutations !

its def 1984
not sure if 'j' is Sept or Oct
has any one seen a 'i' serial ????

the looptail super should have a 3 hole rear brake bridge if not and its a single hole its a cali/expert frame - but thats another can of worms

welcome to the site

Thank you for the answer. If it's a Supergoose, was it made in USA, because if I'm right, they were built in UK too, not ?

not sure on that point
i know ammaco imported to UK from USA
and also there was some deal with moto becane with regards manufacturing in europe to hepl keep costs competative ie lose the import costs
- will have to look deeper into that

this is a supergoose frame look at the rear brake bridge, this one also has pro class sized tubes i think the european models had regular diameter tubing the same as the californian and the expert

I just come back from work and just see your answer and your pic. of the Supergoose and many thank for the great informations. I have contacted the seller and he told me that the brake bridge has only one hole. For the Motobécane (MBK later in 1984) I know that they were some connections with Mongoose, they were imported by Motobécane (the F4, F2, etc). Motobécane has even built Mongoose in France under Mongoose license. As a kid, the first brand who connecting me with the BMX was Mongoose. I have had GT, Hutch, DK. My first BMX was a Spanish BH X3. I never owned a Mongoose BMX but I've had a Mongoose MTB. So my dream is to have USA made Pro Class or Supergoose, but it's not so easy. Thanks for all and salutations.
