Since I have a little knowledge of who was going where back in the day I thought I would share a few that were never made public.

In 1983 when Eric Rupe was declared the NBL # 1 pro he went into talks with 2 companys about the 1984 season. He ended up going with Mongoose. The other company he was close to signing with..........GHP!

In 1983 when Pete Loncarivich left D.B. to turn pro he negotiated with..........Profile........in the end Pete wanted to much $$$ and ended up riding for his own company (LRP) before later signing with Shadow/CW.

In 1983 a hot 15 x out of N.J. named Jarrett Justice was being scouted by several factory teams. He ended up signing with CW. The other team he almost signed with...........JMC!

In 1984 while riding for CW Pete Loncarivich entered into talks with BMX PRODUCTS to ride for.............Blue Max. In the end Eric Rupe (Mongoose pro) threw water on that deal as he didnt want another pro on the team.

Eric Rupe rode for Profile during the 1984 season? He went back to Mongoose sometime in 1985.

Eric Rupe went back to Mongoose in Early 1984. He then defended the NBL national pro title he won the year before in 1983 for Profile. I think I should know, I was his factory teamate..........

To give you an idea of what pro salarys were at that time. In 1982 when Eric Rupe origanally rode for Mongoose his salary was $600 a month. When he went to Profile in 1983 he was paid $800 a month. He won the pro title in 83 and Mongoose won the bid for his services for the 1984 season. This time he was upped to $2000 a month. Plus he had additional co-sponsers that paid him as well ( Oakley,Haro,Max,Galindo, ect.) I remember staying at his place for a couple weeks that year. He had a list of his finishes at every race that year. It was like 1st,2nd,3rd,2nd,3rd,4th,2nd,1st,3rd,2nd,2nd,1st,ect. The guy was consistent to say the least. Still is !

Here's a pic of Eric on Profile (or off it - lol)... signed by him in 1985 for me (when he was in New Zealand and back riding for Mongoose).

It would have been cool to see Eric on GHP for sure!!!
