Found this pic in Super BMX and had to post it.

great shot.... great rider. I raced him a few times and he was always a very strong competitor.

Did he make the main? I'll have to refer to my DVD's but I don't remember he did...
Justin Shepard
Thanks for the pic. I think I choked and didn't make my expert main. I did make the cruiser main though. Here is a little tidbit of info. I hadn't gotten a CW cruiser yet so I raced a GT 26" Cruiser with blue 7x wheels and MCS bars. I still have that bike. I guess it is probably a bit rare.

Justin,

GT 26's are pretty sought after. I lucked on to one a while back, (and it has blue 7x wheels now too)

They're nice cruisers. It must have felt big for a 14 year old I guess.
Justin Shepard
Oh yea. It was huge. When I finally got a CW 24 the differnce was amazing. I still have the CW standard 24 cruiser too. Eventually I got a CW 24 Mini cruiser. That was the best cruiser for me. Unfortunatly I broke off the headtube at the NBL grands after running over someone that crashed in front of me. I remember laying on the track and looking up to see my Dad, Roger Worsham and about 5 other people looking at me and asking if I was alright. I was knocked out for a few minutes. I have a pic of the aftermath of that incident I will post when I find it.

Those 26" GT's are the big'nz forsure, but the W was too.

I was never a cruiser guy BITD, but I sure like'm now... Great pix Justin
Tracer Finn
Hey Justin...I hope you are doing great.Fun to see all the old schoolers on the site. That was a fun race....HUGE.
Take care...Tracer Finn

Here is the broken frame. Yes, I know the glasses are overly large. Go ahead and laugh your a**es off. I thought it was funny too
mcam
Justin,

Post some pictures of that race, and your bikes, when you can. That would be cool to see.

And Tracer, I just finished watching some video footage of you racing. I notice that the video announcers sometimes named you "Tracey Finn".. that must have been damn annoying.

Cool to see some old school CW factory guys here. Damn this site is great.

Here is what I remember about the cruiser components I used BITD:
Upside down proneck
Kos Cruiser bars (Bent the CW bars too often)
Redline flights (no pinch bolt)
Uni Seat (pick shows steel seat post and Kashimax seat though)
Yellow Am'e girps
Hutch pedals
Campy hubs with 7x
42x18 gearing
One of those headset lock dealies (can't remember the name)
Gold Mx1000 lever and black brake

It was kinda a parts bin special. I used alot of left over parts on my bikes. Go figure. We had a bike shop BITD.

Here you go Justin..thought I'd post the pic of you in the 14X main at the Jersey City Armory Indoor 1981 Bmx Plus mag, you were haulin' that day but the Stadium Tires couldn't handle it ..I think it was a Triple Point race.

Out front was Chris Williams ? (Torker)...Me, Darrin Stout (RRP).. Mark Lopez (MCS).. Franco Perrino (Thruster) hidden behind me with the white helmet?..who was the other hidden guy in that race? I know you had that cool CW Saber plate going on and kickin' the cones for good measure..any one else in there you remember? I think you should have gotten with Jim Jannard from Oakley and had him make a set of large Tortoishell frame goggles for you (just like the famous eye glasses your sportin' under the Bell Moto helmet, that is some classic early 80's optical headgear.

Johnny Johnson..it was good to see you out at Elysian..I think you looked a little small on my Anderson Avalanche though, how many times did you knock your knees on that Tuff Neck.....Darrin.
