Anybody know anything about my KOS?
When I bought it second hand, from a girl who bought it new(sweet), it had all stock parts.Pro Class rims, SR stem(a nice one with chrome top cap), KOS bars. I have been told that it was not actually called a KOS Cruiser the year it came out, although it has the same frame/fork/bars as the earlier models. I am not sure of the year either. The frame did not have any stickers on it except the one on the top tube that says,"All Tubes 4130 ChroMo Made in USA".the s/n is behind the BB and reads A2000050.Also the brace behind the BB is open(not a solid square tube) alot like a Californian. Please help me Mongoose experts.

Sounds like you have a "2/6". I've never seen pictures of one in the flesh, pics please!

I'm not sure if pics would help.I have changed most parts for nicer ones(Campy gold bmx hubs,401 cranks,Landing Gear, etc).I don't know how to post photos anyway. Is there a thread to help me w/photos? I would be happy to show it off.
Question: Was my bike (if it is a 2/6) offered as a replacement to the KOS or was it an additional model for the same year? Also, if I were to put KOS stickers on the frame, would it be considered unauthintic? That is if I could find any.

They changed the name from Kos Kruiser to Two Six when Jeff Kosmala left the Mongoose team.

Did the production facility change from Chatsworth in the early 80's My Kos has the "old" style sn CA1 (Chatsworth January 81) My 82 Supergoose is like this one with just the one letter at the beginning.

When was the Kos first introduced?

Thanks,
Dave

Steve, I think you got zero chances of finding two/six stickers if that's indeed what it is, and naked geese need their feathers so go for the KK stickers.

I'd still like to see the rear dropouts in particular - pm me - i'll post up pics for you if you like.

Dave the earliest serial # i've seen/heard of for a KK is CH0-xxxxxx, with undrilled BB shell. actually a friend has an early frame that was never serialed from new.
