I reckon that'd be a goer. All we nedd is someone to have a laptop and the right software.

I sell/lease ptz (pan/tilt/zoom) internet web cameras that would do what you are looking for. Hook it up to a CAT5 ethernetnet cable conencted to the "world wide web" and you are ready to go. Anyone interested can drop me a line. Click the icon in the upper right hand corner to access the PTZ functions.

Where we REALLY need the Webcam is in the Clock Tower's Karaoke bar!

yeah that would be a piece of cake. send out the ip address to everyone to log on and hope you have a comp big enough to take the bandwidth youre going to use from everyone logging on. would be very cool to watch!

I'd like to see this idea, it would be very cool !! And I wonder if we can zoom in and see some of the bikes and people on Google Earth? Probably just look like little ants.

I brought this up last year, and I thought it would be a really funny idea. If you tech folks amongst us can help make it happen, I would probably be willing to run the thing at the event.

I could bring the laptop, so long as the Clock Tower had WiFi throughout, and we had enough bandwidth. I might have to cover the camera if I sing, though. I have a Verizon EVDO card, but it won't be speedy and consistent enough for a web feed.

Who really knows how to make this work?

...It might be one of those deals where the only guys that can really make it work right, do it for a living, and really don't want to make Rockford another day at work?

Maybe one of those camera type feeds that takes a picture every 30 seconds or every minute, and then the pix it takes could be uploaded to a host, and you would see them from that host site? They would be automatically updated every 30 seconds or whatever. Then bandwidth wouldn't be a problem.

It would make an interesting screensaver for the day.

And talking someone into a "Set it, and forget it" camera feed might be easier to do......??
