I'm curious to know what happened to Rob Fehd. Like, what he's doing now, and how long did he race until? Being a GT 24 fan, I guess he helped the sales of GT24's back then.

Rob Fehd is living in AZ and has a very successful tile business.
I sat at his kitchen table one night and we talked about the early days. Rob was involved way back in the mid 70's. Many think of him as an 80's guy but he has history..
oh, yeah...he married my bosses daughter.

Wow, Bill... Thanks. Thats cool to know.
If you ever see him, tell him that test in BMXA of the GT 24, featuring Rob Fehd, was the reason I went with the GT
And that article did mention him from the early days. He needs to get on here, so Johnny Johnson (yeah, he knows Eddy King) can post some photos of him.
Thanks for the update

I just hope Rob never let the six pack hang over his belt. (Obscure BMXA reference)

That is so funny! I remember that... pictures of Rob lifting weights in the GT-Factory gym.
"Check the six-pack (referring to his abs), aint no way I'm going to let that hang over my belt"
I remember thinking if I got onto the GT team I could work and get buffed. I was 12

Rob Fehd's wife is either Gene Roden or Merle Mennega's daughter. They've had a few kids too.
I thought someone would have said something. This was too easy of a question. LOL!

Wrong answer.
I don't work for either gentlemen...
Merl and Gene have not had anything to do with ABA for over 20 years.
Rob's family room could be used as a satellite location for Golds Gym.

And with that smackdown by Bill...
Who here knows that Clayton John (A.K.A. Da Boss) was a drag bike racer BITD?
I did, so there.
Actually, Bill works for me. kind of a covert deal, so...

If anyone talks to Rob, or if Rob checks this site, tell him Bark said what's up. I haven't seen Rob since I was on GT with him over 20 years ago. I need to thank him for all of the fun days out on tour.

Speaking of Clayon John...(if I might hi-jack this post for a brief interlude)...how many of you knew that Clayton John ran a bike shop in central PA called John's Derailleurs which is the same shop where Bill Grove of Titron and Hutch fame got his start when he was just a teenager.

Craig BarK,
Wow, welcome to the board. And my brother would like to thank you, for kicking his *** at the Moove/Twisties Indoor race at the Hordern Pavilion, in Sydney, back around 1983 or so. Hehehehe.... I remember him coming back saying "Damn, that Craig Bark is fast" (We're in New Zealand)
Now, lets hope Johnny Johnson starts bring out the photos

I remember that trip. Because I won every race at the IBMXF World's in Holland a few weeks earlier, I asked Gary Turner if I could go to Australia with Rob Fehd, who was already scheuled to go. He agreed, and I was there for a few weeks. Is Paul Addams around. We struck up a good frienship on tour that summer, but over the years, we didn't stay in contact. If you know of him, say what's up for me. Where are you in NZ? I usually go for a month every other summer to see my family in Whangarei, Auckland, Himatangi Beach, and Wellington. In fact, I spent all of July there last year.

Wow, really? I'm in the South Island, in Christchurch. Its a great town. You should try to get down ther ewhen you are here next.
I never realised that Rob Fehd went to Aussie as well. I wasn't able to go as I had school exams. I'll dig out a couple of photos of the race. I unfortunately dont have any of you racing.
If you ever make it down to Christchurch, let me know. I've built up an 82 GT24, and 81 GT26. I've got a 83 GT pro on the way too

I've got a challenge for you. Try to find a GT 22" cuiser. I raced one during the '83 season, and then I gave it to Mark Steiner. I don't know how many were made for the public, if any, but that would be a find. As far as NZ goes, I plan on going to the South Island next time. My uncle has a place on the northern tip, so I may start there and head south. It probably won't be until summer '08 because I'm heading to Germany and Holland next summer. If you come to the states. let me know. I've got some space available.

Hey Craig, I'm in Auckland.
I have a pesky GT as well - lol.
22" GT cruiser eh?
Well you are probably the first person to mention anything about it... you'll have Mike frothing at the the mouth as that's something else he has to find (along with the elusive 24" Jr. GT cruiser).
lol

Hehehe..... Damn, Now I need to find a GT 22 as well.... arrrggghhh!
Craig, its a deal, if I make it to the states, I will let you know. Likewise, stay in touch, and when you head down this way, it would be great to meet!
Do you know if anyone has any photos of that elusive GT 22? That would be great to see.

I thought Craig and Rob were brothers or something like that. They looked so much alike and both of those guys were built like line backers, Fast too! Ernie

Mark Steiner, a GT teammate around 83 or so, was the last owner as far as I know. Does that 24" junior really measure out to 24"? That may have been the end product/offshoot of the 22". Ernie, there's a flashback. We used to hear that everywhere we went.

As far as I know, they started making a 24" Junior mid to late 82.
What class would a 22" bike be raced in? Cruiser?
That would be cool to see, a GT 22!

I raced it at the SE W.O.S. at Narler Park back in '83 in the 13 and under cruiser class. If I remember correctly, that was the only national I won on a cruiser.

First of all Marc's last name was Steimer not Steiner.... get it right Bark. Good to see you on here, Geoff and I were talking about you the other day on myspace.
I know if Robert ever showed up on here he would kill me but I'll take my chances.
Summer tour was such a fun time. It's really scary some of the pictures I have during this time.
