“UPDATE FROM THE OM OF BMX:

It’s the best & worst of times my friends. I am humbled and full of shame to have failed you all with my relapse back into the world of self-destruction. God bless you all for your support & unconditional love for my “much better half” Jamie & I. She is truly the soul mate I dreamed of since childhood. No doubt a blessing from heaven above. Please continue your prayers for her. The stitches & staples were removed from my head & finger. The fractured skull & ribs continue to ache. The cuts & facial abrasions are nearly gone & healed, but looking like Frankenstein is ok! Now with the outpouring of everyone’s support & love, I realize how lucky I am to be alive. Jamie & the rest of you have opened my eyes & given me the courage to face my past & present problems & pains; guilt that comes with a relapse intensifies the urge to keep going and avoid the emotional & mental pain a vicious cycle, an out of control crash waiting to happen. Humbly, I admit & accept I need help to win this battle and become a whole person. My family & all of you deserve to have “ Scott the O.M.” back to attack! I am pleading for a “5 year rehab & aftercare program” which includes “Prop 36” and “drug court”. It includes the testing 3x a week, classes, coping skills & psychological counseling. I need all that more! I do well “under the gun”, putting together several years clean at a time, only to fall when I take “life” for granted. I tend to follow “my selfish will”, rather than God’s will & won! Please pray that the DA will structure a stringent sentence of rehab rather than warehousing me I a prison again. I’d appreciate seeing ANY and ALL of you in court May 15th. Jamie needs the support, just as I do. Again, please continue your prayers for my Jamie, our fabulous five children! “

I have been reading all the threads for about a week. Hope Scot can get through this and turn things around. I have bid on things to try to help the cause and will be sending something. This being the first thread I've posted on, but was he in an accident? Now I know somethings are better left unsaid, and if this is one so be it.
Again, I hope things do work out for the "OM"

i have looked into old post what happened? i see the post from today,,,,,,,is he facing jail time ? and for what? is he ok? not digging for dirt,,,i meet scot 26 years ago i had spoke to him on the phone ,a few times ,,had some of his riders stay with us at the parents house,,,,he sent me some frames b.i.t.d. i think honesty is the best policy here, we are all just concerned .......

I just got off the phone with Scot.
He wanted me to relay his extreme gratitude for the outpouring support he is getting from everyone. He seems in pretty good spirit considering his surroundings.

He would especially like to get letters from anyone that would like to wish him well. If you can send a picture of you racing back in the day or something along those lines, he would really like that. He said it would cheer him up.

Tomorrow is the day and he's shooting for a very aggressive recovery program. I can only wish him the best and hope his plea is heard by a judge willing to turn Scot into a favorable wind, forcing him to sail into a lifelong recovery.

He asks for any and all well wishes and prayers from all that are willing to go that far for him.

I have my fingers crossed and have him in my thoughts.

I hope for the best for "OM".

The last 2 posts don't sound very good!

Spoke to Scot last night. He has to wait another 5 weeks. He had a bad day with his public defender. The guy was not prepared and new nothing about Scot. The Judge stepped in and wants to know more about him and his options.

Scot is hoping he can raise the $4000 more he needs for his own Attorney and said he will be sending more stuff to Tim for ebay. I will be sending some Stu Thomsen's book of BMX to Stu to be signed then sent to Tim to be sold.

Scot said to say thanks to the people who showed up at court. It can take all day to be seen and knows some of you had to leave.

Scot sends his love to Jaime, Stepmom Ann, Alex and I am sorry I forgot the other name but you know who you are. Said it was great to see you.

Gary, does this mean Scot will have to wait another 5 weeks IN JAIL? God, I hope not.

Scot knows he is facing Jail time regardless. This will be considered time served.

He is hoping for an intervention system (Prop 36 & Drug Court) to get the help he needs and not a long term jail sentance. He wants to get back to his Family and Friends but knows his own actions may prevent this.

I guess that is a positive way to see it. If he has to do some time, he might as well be doing it now and getting it over with. Hopefully Mr. Judge will see five weeks as sufficient and help Scot get to rehab.

This sounds like a good thing to me. This is what we were all shooting for in the first place. at least the judge took the innitiative. If 5 weeks in jail now means getting in this program he wants then it will be time well spent.

I guess the other people Scot was talking about is Darrin (who you might know) and myself.

I was hoping for a better outcome, the public defender was an idiot. It seemed he wanted to just throw the book at Scot and call it a day. Hopefully he gets better representation next time.

I'm sure I'll stop by and see Scot, he's very close to where I live, I'll pass along any info I get.

Ripper Fan And Darrin sorry I did not mention your names. It meant alot to Scot for you guys being there. He said to say thanks. He is trying to get his own lawyer but like any good thing it cost $$$.

Watch for more ebay items. It helps.

Me, being on the East Coast, so a visit to the "OM" isn't that easy, and I know many of us are in the same boat, but you can send him a note or too, maybe a picture from BID with your old SE bike.

Thanks for putting the address up. I sent a letter and some fun stuff today. I downloaded a GOOJ (get out of jelly) card from the net today and sent that also. I hope that doesn't get confiscated!!
