its been a while since I posted anything, I just wanted to share this build I did with a few of the remaining used extra parts I had. everything on the bike is used and was on other bikes at one time. I know that the brake lever is on the wrong side, but thats the only lever I had left which was for the left side. I was thinking of eventually putting some black dx style platform pedals on there and maybe a blue laid back seat post. any comments on this build are appreciated. I was not by any means going for a stock look or a show bike, but rather how I like it and something that can be used.

the parts I used were:
1981 mongoose frame
aluminum v bars
off brand stem
diacompe bulldog rear brake
tech 77 brake lever
odyssey slic cable
mongoose pads
ame grips
gt chrome seat post
mcs seat post clamp
aero copy seat
off brand 1 piece cranks
rat trap pedals
mongoose chainwheel
kmc chain
tuff 2's
cheng shin tires
tange trx forks

I think its pretty cool if you ask me. Dig that stem too

Are the bars annodized or painted? WHat does that sticker on the bars say?

i'm digging the stem too, I have no idea what type it is but its kinda cool.

the bars are annodized and the decal on it says "cebe the redline v-bar replica"

Stem is Win brand (Japanese).

Cheap and slip loads. I got one on my first mongoose 1980. They also do a slant version.

I see you have the proper decals.. Good call!

PS: The only thing I'm not digging is the tires.. black skinwalls would really set it off

Has the frame been refinished? It looks really nice from here.

I have one at the powdercoaters that is getting shot that color and will have all gold or blue anno parts.

ditto on the tires, sometimes the blending of eras can be done but mid 80s white tires on a early 80s goose is somewhat of a trainwreck. Of course, if you dig it, then rock on.

I pretty much just used what tires I had laying around so at the moment the white tires are temporary, although the bike rides very smooth so thats a plus . the frame is the original paint and the decals are the originals on the frame. there are a few spots of paint flaking though on the dropouts. mogas, I cant wait to see your blue goose when its done. I plan on changing some of the parts in a week or two once I order some more, ill post more pics by then. lethargic, I agree that the stem slips alittle. at first when I took it off some sweet jumps I felt alittle slipage with the stem. so I might replace the stem with a different one. although now the stem seems to be holding up just fine no matter what jump I go off of.

Dave, those geese your building sound like their going to turn out really nice. looking forward to seeing the supergoose when you finish it, I still need to get a 81-82 supergoose frame myself, but keep missing the auctions on the bay. chrome with blue parts looks good on a supergoose. im currently working on fixing up a chrome 1981 mongoose survivor I recently aquired from vbmx member chris. although I did change a few parts on it from when I got it before, so far whats on it as of now is:

1981 chrome mongoose frame
chrome tange trx fork with team mongoose decals
blue annodized tuf neck pro model stem
blue annodized pro neck v bars
blue fuan grips *look alot like oakleys*
blue annodized diacompe bent style brake lever
blue mongoose snap pads *my original set*
blue annodized diacompe 890 rear brake
blue annodized tuf neck seat post clamp
blue viscount aero
175 mm chrome 1 piece cranks
chrome sugino chainring
blue mitsuboshi comp III's
blue tuff wheel 1's (soon to be replaced with II's)

I still need to get a few parts for it: blue brake cable, blue brake pads, blue dx style platform pedals, blue chain, pro neck chainring, chrome chainring bolts, chrome layed back seat post. I was mostly likely going to replace the sugino chainring with a pro neck chainring/power disc combo. im not sure yet about that though.

doing the blue theme with my 82 goose,
blue kobe grips ( until those blue goose grips come along)
ss goose bars (awesome condition)
gold stem
super goose forks
goose headset
nos tange fluted post
blue viscount seat
goose stamped post clamp
nos goose bottom bracket set
moose goose cranks ( not sure have originals with frame)
goose stamped snowflake ring (awesome shine)
chrome chain Maybe blue and chrome
blue rat trap pedals
pro-class rims with blue acs hubs and blue spoke nipples
think I have the original brake that came with the bike in a box of parts whats left from my childhood, but debating a blue brake system
and probably roll some comp IIIs
desperating need some correct decals ( hint, hint)
not too much blue but enough to accent
