Dude, who said anything about selling this let alone selling it as a "fake" item? Just cos you might have that kind of devious mind don't judge me in the same way.

I want something similar for a rider and my other bikes, if you know where I can buy one, tell me. I don't see much difference to Kappa and their takes on old school nor Akisu and their "JMC" stuff if you can explain why me getting something similar made is bad and what those guys do is good I'd appreciate it.
kissmy
Sorry, Azusa not Akisu :-)
P.K. and Hutch
I don't think informing the people who read this board that repros are being made is a bad thing, I'd like to know, but I do agree that the whole repro-is-bad, we're the bike police thing is tiresome. If someone wants a repro'd item, that's their call.

Do they really make fake JMC's? Come here google.

The Kappas and Azusa's you mention are distinctly different from original and marked in a way that will let someone know what they are getting. If you have something made for you and then sell your stuff down the line, what about the next guy? will he make sure when he sells that the buyer knows the stuff isn't real?

Welcome aboard, have a seat and read a bit. By the way, you seem to be missing something from your name! Is it related to your face?
P.K. and Hutch
Where should the repro marking be located? On the outside where everyone can see it, or on the underside or inside? Just curious...

blimey, he only said he would make one that looked similar. whats the problem with that.
does that constitute a fake item, cos if it does i think i mat have a fake cherokee jeep, its called a bmw x5.....well its similar

The topic is gone on rad?????
Can someone tell me more about it?
Keep_It_Warm
Yea, what was it? Another stem? Pics? info?
P.K. and Hutch
It was a discussion post and someone was saying that a Hutch part (maybe a stem) was too expensive and hard to find and that his friend suggested having one made or did have one made and he might do the same. No mention of mass production or selling them. No pics that I saw either.
graeme
well maybe i should have saved the topic from rad, the bit where you where gonna do a small run of them. show me where i said you would sell them as fake. was hutch headlocks
graeme
graeme
and if the thread was totally cosure then why was it deleted from rad
graeme
P.K. and Hutch
This is all about headlocks?
Morrissey
The thread was cosure but was removed due to you and your actions alone.

Im sure most members on here will be aware of some of the disscussions between RAD and vintage over reproducing whatever for this hobby and it always gets out of hand, some seem to take things too seriously so its just not worth the hassle.

This is why it was removed, i was involved in the post also so feel obliged to explain, i dont remember a run of them being mentioned at all and dont take kindly to people trying make a mountain out of a mole hill, it was a genuine question that did not deserve all this BS.

Hope there is no harm done, these are kids bikes for gods sake not the crown jewels.

I love that tag line..........
P.K. and Hutch
I've always wanted to use that line myself. They're not cars, not even motorcycles, just bikes most of us stopped riding when we got driver's licenses. Very nice.

The problem is that people will spend thousands for these "kids bikes". That in of itself can be a strong motivator for some people to create reproductions and pass them off as originals.
graeme
i hope others got a look at it before it was deleted. strange that it was deleted though if it was as innocent as people claim

And some people Have done it too
And not all of us stopped riding when we got our cars Just ask about Thruster
graeme
well it appears i wasnt the only person to read it. mcam confirmed on os that he did say he was gonna do a small run of them.

It's funny how you start this topic for US at Vintage to be careful (and I'm glad), and instantly these guys with 2, 13, 7, whatever posts who never come here all of a sudden are here defending their actions. Are they spying on us?
graeme
its even funnier that they tried to lie, just glad at least one other saw the thread.
graeme
Hudson
It did indeed say that he would figure out how much it would be to 'do a small run of ten or so'. If you make repro stuff, just mark itsomeplace...doesn't have to be on the outside...just mark it.

Pot and kettle right there bud, think about it before you write eh? I mean, how did it get posted on here unless someone on here was spying on there? And who was spying first, them or us? And why oh why do hot dog baps come in packs of six when hot dogs come in tins of eight? Please, someone answer that last one.
graeme
does it matter how it got posted...lol. or are you more bothered that it was posted

i very much doubt the guy was planning to market these items as hutch parts, if he intended to sell them at all.

successfully selling off counterfeit parts in a market such as this would be nigh on impossible. especially high end / rare stuff.

i bet the moment he even thought of the idea some would-be poirot was at his window on a ladder taking notes.
graeme
kinda funny that its the fellow brits that are condoning fake goods. like i have said before, if it was so innocent then why was the thread removed.
graeme
theRuler
what harm does it do for a guy to make his own stuff?

the thread was removed because threads about any kind of unlicensed reproduction is not allowed on radbmx.co.uk.

however innocent it may be, it tends to get, well, blown out of proportion.

this thread should be removed too, it's worthless ranting.

if its for own use, clearly marked and not a small run for sale then therfe would be no problems. but no matter how many lies people say that wasnt the case was it. why should the thread be removed? surely its in everyones interest to be aware of this kinda crap

q1...if it was so innocent then why was the thread removed.
a1...the thread was removed because threads about any kind of unlicensed reproduction is not allowed on radbmx.co.uk.

q2...why should the thread be removed?
a2....same as answer 1 i think

it is most definatley in everyones interest to be aware of folk repoping stuff...but dont make too much of it, he was only doing it for his own bike, and he did say it would only be similar to the hutch item, not a replica

now there's a policy i like. if guys can't peddle their crap parts on the websites the incentive to make them is limited somewhat. no profit/no CNC hours.

that "small run" crapola is a mantra of repop'ers. the theory: make enough to sell to other guys so mine is free. the extras are quickly snapped up by like-minded "instant gratification" guys and end up in circulation as time goes by and the "IG" guys lose interest and move on to other pursuits.

exhibit #1... Dave Lucas.

at least once a week or so somebody tosses out a "does anybody have the dimensions of part x?" question. most of the time they are newbies to the site with minimal # of posts. everybody knows why they are asking.

oh, ok.
DMG
More than one other saw it graeme. And it was a bit of the "I'll do a small run if it's worth the effort. Does anyone have close up pictures/dimentions of the hutch stem lock?"
Randy
Exibit A, marking your work.

graeme
guys just beware of hutch headlocks coming out of the uk. enough people saw the thread to know what was being said.
