Do you ever have the feeling you will be reunited with your old bike from back in the day? I do. It was a KZ1. I miss it.

Absolutely Georgeous! Was never really a Kuwie fan......
But I am now!

I guess you would HAVE to keep the chain off to keep from riding it, the temptation is just too great.
Randy

I saw one of those in my apartment complex when I was 8 years old!

I loved it! This bike belonged to one of the two top-dogs in our complex.. the other top dog had a Redline Proline (same year, '79?) and they were both white..

so many memories flooding back at the moment... WOW.. just wow!

Stunning !! Kuwahara's sporting Suntour, Elina and Ukai components are great. The 100% Made-in-Japan combo.

You are right about the single gusset frame, it is very rare.
meatpie
I'm gobsmacked!!! That is the nicest.. i mean.....
THE BEST KUWAHARA THAT I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!
Without a doubt!!! Scotty

Mate, that is sweet, is that the red one that was on Oz Ebay?

I'm in the process of building a prosight that is so close to that bike (colour and componant) wise it is not funny! I'd post pics but this thread deserve to be devoted to that beautiful ride and nothing else!!

Once again mate, SWEET!

-Pete.

NSR Jamie
Hey! Wow ! Look at that ! Isn't that or wasn't that Jims bike? Man, that really looks good...I can't believe he sold the bike, but at least it went to a nice person. Congrats on that, I'm happy for you....man, I need to get my butt started on my own KE-1 project. Mine has been sitting here for ages.

Your new bike is just fantastic !! Those black Ukai rims, gold Suntour hubs, the cranks, the bars, early stickers, pedals, just everything.....I am very very envious right now.

No, thats not it. Quicksilver actully won the red one, and later on traded it to me for some stuff....I need to get my butt working on that project but have been delayed, lack of cash and no stickers to finish it right. Myabe by the summer time if things work out.

I wish I knew where all my old frames went.Kuwa took all of them back from me.

The credits would go;

Thank you to:
Jamie Wheeler for the F/F deal. He ALWAYS steered me in the right direction when it came to locating this hard to find set. Jamie also did up the front hub himself on a lathe, with a custom jig that was more amazing than the bike, IMO.

POPO: For the cranks at rock bottom prices. The seat also from HK.

Singapore: For all those hard to find pedals and grips and pads. Actually these pads are from GOLO.

Rockchick: For all the gold alloy on the bike. The brakes were NOS, the chainring, the Suntour parts were perfect. That guy totally stoked me.

Roger Aguavera: ?spelled? for those rims. Just took forever +1day to find them.

BikeboytheKing: For that seatpost.

Australia: For selling the bars, the BB kit, the F/F set... where else is this stuff?? Thank you AUS.

D.T.LflyKuwa: For having the gumption to buy it from me.

At the end of the day, I really like the KZ-1 but built up some OTHER models to pass the time, because I like resto'd bmx bikes. It was a fun hobby. I couldn't have done it without OTHER peoples help. They deserve the credit. I'd never seen it built up this way as Danny did it here. I'm impressed. Style is everything.

It was built for Rod Miles. I tried to keep it sub800 but it fell off the scale and went +1K... like they all seem to. Rod Miles tribute still floating around.

KZ-1s coming soon.
