Judging by the Redline "Brute" stem, I would guess it's an MX-II or MX-III - around '83.

Does anyone have a picture of the decals that were period for this bike or have a picture of the originals?

Just got off the phone with redline. It's a mxll. They are sending me the decals for it . That means I've got to get this thing to the powder coaters. Any suggestions?

White or Red were nice colors. I have a white frame with original decals and it really looks sweet. Nice find and great salvageable bike....

It's your build, do what you want with it. In the end, it only matters if your happy.

black, white, red, blue, yellow, nobody would really care, as long as it's your bike and it looks good to you, that's all that really matters. it's a mx2 or mx3 anyway, those were cool bikes but not really something to spend a ton of money on restoring and really worrying about correctness. cool bike, price was certainly good, can't go wrong rescuing one from a junk pile now and then! i wish i had the ad scanned from bmxa, shows them in correct collors, i think red and blue anyway...

Sure looks like the "bones" of the thing are telling us that it's an '81 or '82 MX-II ... the suntour components and brute stem are definitely the right era.
That's a cool bike.
Mine, back then, (first BMX race bike that I owned) was powdered blue with gold stuff on it. But, white will sure look right when you get the sticks on it. The full sets are available at BMXSTOP.com and there's a link to the
<---- left.
Cool rescue ... can't wait to see your bike come back to life.

Thanks Kevin, thats who I got the decals from. Also , you said that yours was blue BITD ?. Was it a light blue or a dark blue? The reason I ask is this. There is light blue paint under the black on the forks. Whats throwing me off is that the black on the forks is not rattle can.

metallic blue and metallic red.

You are right . It's metallic blue on the stear tube. So at some point in this bikes life the forks were changed. Thank God they replaced it with the right forks. I have changed my mind. It is going to be metallic blue w/gold rims and gold cranks. Now I just need to get the bars rechromed. Anyone have a suggestion? How about restoring the stem?. I'm not going to go wild, but. This will be a very nice build.

The Redline MX-III owned by John Ferris in the '81 - '82 gallery is the right color blue ... it's a fairly dark blue powder coat.

Kevin O' c4 said that they got me covered on the color. I told them that it had to match to the tee.
G-Flash, it was the alachua county/ gainesville dump. Whent there to get some free mulch, left there with a truck load of mulch and a free sweet redline. I am building the rims as we speak. Gold araya's with suzu gold sealed hubs. I just spent $2800.00 on a anodizing set up. Yea I going to do my own stuff.
