I have a lot of cool bikes, but I love these 1970s coaster brake bikes. When I was cruising around my neighborhood in the mid 1970s, this is what my friends were riding. These are the bikes we were jumping garbage cans with right before we discovered BMX racing. When I bought this frame/fork a few years ago, it came with this headset (1983 Tange) so I left it on. I have a 1976 Schwinn Headset that will go on this bike when I have a few minutes to keep it era correct.

Great looking build!

PS: How do you know the motomags are '76? Is there some way to tell dates on them?
Please let me know because I have a few pair that I'd like to know the dates on..

Those seats are rad! I just picked one up that looks very similar.. it's a mesinger though, but has that same type design on the side..

It's going on my
code:

build coming up here shortly..

Astro,

You are correct sir. I forgot I sold off the Brooks saddle and put an early 1970s Mesinger Touring Saddle on it. It looks just like yours.

As for the Motomags. I know the production date on these only because they came out of my mother's attic a few years back. They were the stock ones from my younger brother's 1976 DeCoster. Yes, I still have the DeCoster bolted to our R&R hack.

G-Flash,

Water under the bridge my friend. See you at the Rock.

So then if Motomag II's were around in '76, then that would mean Motomag I's were 1975 only? (1974?)

How rare are I's ??

I've seen Jeff Haney's in the museum on his A&A hardtail.. Does anyone else have a set?

That is a beautiful thing (wipes a tear from eye). You just took me back 30 years!
