could you guys put a value on these pedals:
bodies-ok condition, need rechroming
cages-ok condition, bent in at ends
bearings-thrashed, need to be replaced
spindles-ok condition
Now what would these sames pedals be worth without matching spindles? One original and one Crupi?
thanks!

Around $100+/- in the above mentioned condition.
Decent sets of used go for anywhere from $150 to $250+ depending on condition.
Now get ready for the dozen or so guys that will say you should never ask what something is worth on here.

Here's my problem. I bought a pair on Evilbay (my first mistake) and I got scammed. He sent them without matching spindles. One original and one Crupi. I paid $300 (my second mistake). Now paypal is asking for documentation on business letterhead from a dealer or expert. They want the "expert" to appraise the pedals as they are. in otherwords they want someone other than me telling them they are worthless wihtout the real spindles. Can anyone help??!!!!!

What was the item number of the auction? I'm now rather curious what they were advertised as.

My thoughts on this:
The cages look decent.
The extra cages look decent.
One spindle is hidden for a reason in the photo (or so it would seem).
Four Negatives in less than a year on eBay is a sign of sorts.
Private Feedback Comments is a sign of sorts.
But, when it comes down to it. It appears that you received what was advertised in the auction as the description was rather vague. Says cages "may be" Hutch and by the photos we see here, they are. Cages seem to be in decent shape (like you could always eBay them for $50 per set to recoup any $$ you laid out. The bodies could probably fetch $75 by themselves. The lone Hutch spindle would fetch another $30.

Above quote lifted from auction text. Never mentions spindles one way or another.

Here's the deal, they are certainly not "worthless" without matching spindles. To track down the matching spindle will end up costing you $30-$45. I think we all agree that the auction wasn't worth the BIN of $300, but you did hit BIN on them.
I think your best bet is to be reasonable and ask him to pony up $50 for the non-disclosed, non-matching spindle. There is really no point in trying to say they are completely worthless without matching spindles since that is far from the truth.
Then simply stick them in a drawer for the next eight months and they'll probably be worth the $300 when parting them out this fall or winter.

Ken, I'm taking your advice
-the cages are dented, the extra cages are not real. This is no his fault, I understand that. He warns that they may not be real.
-the private feedback was my doing because I drilled him super hard.
either way I sent him a message saying I'd retract me feedback if he compensates me for the spindle

GERMNEST ..... HONESTLY MATE READ THIS !!!!!!!!!
i have 550 transaction on ebay , feedback around 380 , positive around 470 . honest truth , when you get shafted like that , you need to be properly shafted , paypal is the BEST THING IN THE WORLD ....IF YOU DONT RECIEVE THE ITEM ! if you get an item ripped/bent/broken/mis matched parts , they ask for this letterheaded crap from GOD ALMIGHTY saying that this is worth this , the damage is worth this , the price of fixing is this and this in HIS opinion is worth X amount !
SO - tell paypal you will send it back for a full refund >>>>> if that doesn work ... read on
you might have learned a costly lesson this time ...
it has been done on me once at the start , i got the scope of paypal in that lesson ....
NOW , if i think about the situation (me) $300 perfect hutch pedals .... i get - $100 pieces of crap (if even that) , the new cages will cost me $100+ nevermind the new spindle ..... paypal is gonna shaft me .... seller gets away ......
launch a dispute as.... ITEM NOT RECIEVED !!!!!!!!!
not .... NOT AS DESCRIBED !!!!
once you have got the item in some shape or form , paypal is on the sellers side .
i have done this once only , as i knew i was getting shafted by the seller , then paypal would shaft me too , he charged me $30 postage and it cost him $6.75 to post it to me - the cheapest way out .
this is not a usual trait , once only BUT MY BLOOD WAS BOILING ! it was the only way i would get satisfaction ! he sent me a $300 jacket with a STANLEY KNIFE SLIT IN THE FRONT (FEATHER FILLED) opened the parcel , you'd have thought i was plucking chickens in the house !
JACKET WAS USELESS !!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT MY FULL CASH BACK minus his $6.75 .
look at my feedback 100% , but i will take a negative instead of being shafted for $300 !!!
i looked at my sellers feedback and he was famous for this kind of thing , he sold "perfect" gear .... it was damaged seconds actually , and he got out of every situation by paypal making it too hard for the buyer !
Then only way to beat a lying, cheating, [I tried to curse] seller is give him what he deserves .

This guy's feedback says it all.
Someone doing things properly and ethically should (in theory) never get a negative feedback.
Someone who racks up 4 inside of 12 months is probably not handling things like he should...
