TIM
no, i am not "getting out" of the hobby.

no, i am not in financial distress.

no, i am not holding a "firesale".

amazing how selling a few bikes gets the rumor mills pumping.

i have set myself some new rules to manage the size of the "museum" is all. i currently have 31 complete bikes and another 30+ framesets, and no more room. SO!

rule #1. "something in, something out." if i buy a new bike, or build up a frameset, something else must go. i'm not adding any more bike stands. i have picked up 3 new framesets in the last two weeks, and another 4 are in the build planning stages. so stuff needed to go.

rule #2. every dollar out, bring a dollar in. i plan to fund my obsession by selling un"needed" items.

rule #3. the "one of everything" rule. i don't need/want 12 JMCs (or Red Lines, or CBRs, or whatever). just one killer example of each bike company on the planet. SO! if i get a killer bike/frameset, one i already have will go.

rule #4. the "70's rule!" rule. i like old stuff. early stuff. '70s stuff. so that's where i'm heading.

rule #5. 20"ers make nice clean rows. sold both the pit bikes i owned this week, and all my cruisers are for sale. my OCD insists the place looks much more orderly already, with the bike rows straight as an arrow. i like that.

thank you. everybody can get back to their coffee now.

My OCD says only one nice bike per wheel size (16, 20, 24, 26). I have this killer set of 20" wheels that belong in a museum. I don't know if they are quite old enough for you, but they got class to spare. I wanna trade for a 26" cruiser frame with a 4" headtube or a couple of sets of cruiser bars. These are Araya 7X's with Campagnolo Record track hubs and double butted spokes. They were built bitd and never used. They have 20+ years of shop wear, but are the real deal built by a master wheel builder. LMK if you have interest. If you are not Tim and express interest please be someone I would recognize as a contributing member of the vintage/OS communities.

i can completely relate to rationalizing the collection. Do it myself, occaisionally. in this regard, will take an early hutch or torker pro f/f off your hands for top $$$$$$.... name your price. hot to trot.

Thanks,
Rob

I am in need of a old school 24. I have a yamaha frame with some nos parts I am willing to horsetrade. its a c. if that means anything to someone.

So, why are you quitting vintage BMX again?
DMG
Quitting is way underrated............

Do you have or need a Diamond Back? Don't recall seeing a snake in your collection...

TIM is a wise man. I think I need to thin my herd, I have way too much stuff too.

Tim, 24's make nicer rows. Sorry!
TIM
Ramon,

i have a Wheels N Things f/f, which i consider the ancestor of Diamondback. but no, no Diamondbacks per se.

I didn't even think about it...

Rule #1 is so hard..

It's so hard for me to get rid of things.. but having said that, I'll be selling about 6 different geese in the next couple weeks.

I love rule #4 and I'm starting to live by it!!

It's safer too! No one is repro'ing femco rims and ashtabula forks!

I like rule #3 too.. it's like culling in bass fishing tourneys.. you can keep 5 fish, so if your smallest fish it 2 lb's, and you catch a 2.5 lb'er, you let the 2 lb'er go. Makes sense to me..

Tim, Sandy showed me a couple of those when I visited, he tried to get me to take one, I should have, oh well. I do have that black 1977 DB frame/fork that he was so proud of, the one with the square brake bridge, FMF style dropouts and euro BB.

I need to thin my DB herd,(space is at a premium in the new place and I have 8 complete DB's) if you are interested in adding a bona-fide Diamond Back to your collection. (not the black f/f though)

El Diablo is so disciplined!

Can I make payments on a cruiser or two... my ocd says it's ok.

nice to hear you's are rich farmers with lots of room and massive flocks or herds , i have just started and shes says my 2 sheep are taking up way too much space .... probably due to the fact of a 2m NO FLY ZONE in every direction .... i had to man , or after 2 months they'd look like they were never restored from BITD .....

hey TIM , we can do a whip round if youre a bit short on the old MOOLAGHH , no need to sell your sheep !
Keep_It_Warm
I heard TIM is having trouble filling up the Family Sport Truckster with gasoline prices what they are, so he's forced to sell.

The average human head weighs about 8 pounds.

I would have to have a nearby community college that offers a course on limiting the size of a bmx collection, then go to said course, ace it, and still not get it.
