I just pulled my original Team Mongoose from storage to start my 2007 Rockford build. Here is the question - Have you ever seen Oakley .5 grips turn mushey soft?

I Have heard of grips turning to goo.. not sure if it was becauas of some grip-glue used back in the day, or just tremendous heat or what.. but apparently it happens.
Are you doing red or blue? I believe I have one NOS blue .5 looking for a home. It's yours if you can use it..

sounds like a sweet secret build. I think the grip problem you are having is related to time and heat.I usally take the grips off the bike and vacuum pack them and zip tye them too the bike. It works sometimes. I really dont think there is a cure all for this problem.

Good luck with your build. Ask snoopy about the bike he just got from me. nothing special, just my racer 04 floval. He stole it, but thats cool. Hes cool as snoopy in my book too.

I think it is a combination of hand oil/perspiration and exposure to the sun, all of the Oakleys on my bikes are fine and they are over 20 years old!
