You guys talking about the stainless sets?
u can get them at ur hardware store for hardly anything, compared to $7-$15 which i saw them getting on ebay.

Raybeard had them. Don't know if he still does but they were real nice.
mcam
Raybeard hasn't got anymore. He cant get the chainwheel bolts.
djbdb
yeah. thats who it was...Raybeard.

I didn't need the chainwheel bolt anyway...
larryS
Ace harware has everything you need. They have them in both stainless & hardend steel style/finish.
Go get them for about 5-10 bucks, or send me $30.00 and I'll go get them for you......! Don't waste your money on ebay. They're just bolts & washers.
djbdb
they have the button head spindle bolts??
mcam
The button head spindle bolts are just standard button head cap screws. There is nothing special about them. As Larry said, any big hardware store will have them.

I know this, and I'm in New Zealand...LOL
djbdb
well color me stupid then...
larryS
Not stupid, you just learn the hard way like we all did. I use to pay Dan's Comp about $20.00 for what I could get for about $5.00 at the hardware store. The only thing hard to find is the washers in steel. I have to pay a little more & buy the brass ones. No big deal. They work just as well.

I think finding a genuine NOS set would be impossible , (tho I'm sure that some people will have 3 sets they will never use or sell)

Personally I wouldn't put a bolt from a hardware store on my bike or car. Big retail Hardware stores mostly sell cheap low quality galvanised nuts & bolts that are overpriced & under quality if you plan on puting any amount of torque or strain into them. No hardened grade 8 or stainless steel stuff in hardware stores here anymore , you have to go to an engineering supply store now & pay for the quality

The grade 8 domed head axle nuts cost approx $3.50 ea
the stainless steel chrome domed head axle nuts cost $8 each , the smaller domed head drive nuts (without a collar) were a few dollars each & so were the chrome pinch bolts (about 20 of them got bought) , finding the aluminium washers seems near impossible , you can get them in steel but the OD is waay to big & they need to be turned down to fit properly into their place.
If you want quality specialty nuts bolts etc for your bike or car you have to find the right shop or supplier & pay for it , in my experiences @ engineering supply shops you gets whats you pays for , good stuff.

The biggest reason to not use black or stainless steel hardware is because its not generation correct, it costs 50 cents but it looks even cheaper. (Insert vomit Graemlin) If your going to do it right get the correct hardware. All my hardware kits with the exception of the flat stainless steel washer are simply hardware used for custom motorcycles. I bought it all from Chrome Hardware / Standard Bolt. The sprocket bolts came from Redline but they cut me off (I think). Rumor has it they have over 5,000 of them in stock. They are the second generation bolts without Redline stamped on the head but they are the same bolt. Enjoy.
mcam
Raybeard, so are you saying the correct (as in correct in having the shoulder) sprocket bolts are still available from Redline? Do thye have to be ordered through a bike shop or something?

djbdb: well color me stupid then...

I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were stupid. Not at all. My statement "I know this and I am in New Zealand" was a dig at myself... It wasn't intended as anything else.

Black grade 8's & Stainless steel hardware replacement bolts etc were pretty much generation correct here in Oz back in 1981.
Any bolt or part that came here from the US & failed at the track or in the skatepark was quickly replaced or repaired by using a more suitable or proper bolt/nut (whatever) , when you live on a big island in the south pacific or the little ones to the east , you would curse the company for fitting garbage to the part in the first place & fix it properly.
I was glad that my 2nd hand pinchless flights already had unbrako hex headed bolts on them to hold the cranks on , the same bolts are still there doing their job today.

To each their own , I like hotrodding my BMX bikes as much as my car , putting uber expesnsive sub standard crap that will break seems a pointless exercise to me & it would be really unsafe to let my younger brother Matt cut loose at the track on them or race them in our vintage races here.....

It wasn't uncommon for my buds to replace those spindle bolts with hex head bolts from the hardware store. Ugly but effective.

I have a NOS redline 401 flight gear bolt the one that attachs the gear to the crank arm its stamped redline on it and youll probably never find another one unless you got a set of 401's. found it in a shop the owner said there was 2 of them in a set of 401's when he opened them and threw it in a bolt box . anyone looking for one??
