.....ya!..... what Rick Towmey said!........much obliged!....
Tanker Kranker
Thanks for posting the pics guys, looks like it was a great event. Awesome bikes, too. If any class winners aren't going to use their awards, send 'em my way. I need an extra drive-side arm.

Deans 35th
Thanks Justin and Chris for posting those. Man now I'm really mad that I crashed out of the semis.....I would have loved to get that plate!!

They tried to get me on one of these deathtraps, but no way - it's much safer on 2 wheels thank you very much

hey what a great show - and anyone who missed out on the Patriot Bike Shop afterwards really should try to get up there sometime.. like a museum of old school bikes - I forgot my camera but hopefully someone got some shots of that place
Deans 35th
Tanker Cranker,

Those awards are the LEFT side arm believe it or not.

That's an awesome pic Chris. Thanks. BTW, I won class Sunday on the very same bike that got best new retro award!

I didn't manage to make it to Roseville - bummer! It was just a bit too far away that day. I'm in San Fran now and heading bck to LA tomorrow. I am using the crappy and expensive hotel internet service.
The 26incher
I had a blast! We have to do a hack race in Rockfish!

Gooser
KastanKillector--

I didn't think you were going, man! I'm already regretting I missed it. I went into a place to have my taxes done on Friday--for the last 3 years--and it cost me $250 a return. Wow. So I was broke...and too sleepy to wake up at 5:00 AM after working until 2.

Yeah, I suck. Raced livermore instead...

Check out that PK pit!

And, speaking of pits, did someone race a 16" sidehack? Insane.

I'm going to have to hook up a Patriot hack and race that sucker next year. Who's gonna be my monkey?
Krog
And the winners were:
...
"BEST 70's BIKE"
The winner was a 1978 Jag, owned by William Suarez. Suarez (father of Redman's "Wild Willy" is new to collecting; with only two retro machines to his name ... but more to come, I'm sure.
...
"BEST 80's BIKE"
The winner was the pristine 1984 JMC "Darrell Young", owned by Jeff Norton. Extra props for the car-show style placard.
...
"BEST FREESTYLER"
The winner was Bike #43; Floridian Steven Lankowski's gold-plated Redline RL-20 II. Most young BMX racers were droolin' over the bling bling.
...
"BEST MONOSHOCK"
The winner was an extremely rare Cooks Bros. mono, untouched and built by John Sullivan.
Some things are best un-restored.
...
"BEST 26" CRUISER"
The winner was the super rare S&S cruiser, owned by Johnny Severin. This is an exact replica of the S&S cruiser "WFO" was pictured on in BMXA, racing at Chandler. The only reason it exists is that it was stolen from a factory S&S rider, and then receovered decades later.
...
"BEST 24" CRUISER"
The winner was a cherry red Slingshot w/Vector bars, owned by kevin Messirou. RED hot.
...
"BEST WORK-IN-PROGRESS"
The winner after a tie-breaker went to Chris Cole and his nearly-complete Blue Max. SBS/Redline's '75 Squareback took a close 2nd place.
...
"BEST 16" PIT BIKE"
The winner was again Kevin Misserou, for his sweet CW Phaze-1. Those "Z" frames still grab the attention of those who've never seen one.
...
"BEST (Modern Day) RETRO BIKE"
The winner was a built-up 30 Year Anniversary Redline kit, owned by Dean Townsend. (#78, i think it was - right, Dean?)
...
"BEST CHROME"
After a 3-way tie, the shinest award went to "Cruiser King" Jeff Maddox, for his glistening DG 24". I was surprised that the Cruiser King didn't take more awards home; his collection is awesome!
...
and, finally ... "BEST OF SHOW"
The winner was Jim Turner of Pleasant Hill, CA., for his unique plastic-plastered RoadMaster "Moto Cycle"
... ironically a $5.00 garage-sale find!
G-Flash
Great pics! Thanks for posting shots of what the rest of us missed!
KastanKillector
Gooser, I decided about 9:00 am to go. I hear I missed some good racing?
Reilley1
I want to say thanks to the Barrette Bros for bringing back such memories in more ways than one.

Also want to thanks all the people who brought those great bikes. Sodbuster, WFO, CK and all others. Bikes are beautiful guys

Racing against gOrk and legendary monkey Kelly Crofoot in sidehacks was great and even tho they smoked us, it was a pleasure trading paint with them on the first corner.

Never had the pleasure of racing against gOrk but finally I have. I did have the honor of racing against Kelly and his brother Chuck and it was almost like the old days.

It was also an honor to wear the Rick's Bike Shop jersey and a double honor to run the WASP 11 number of the infamous Rick's Bike Shop team of John Palfryman and Doug Takahashi. I just feel bad that we didn't live up to the number. But we tried. I Thank Jason Eads "The 26 incher" for piloting with no notice and I had a blast. Thanks Rick Twomey for fullfilling my childhood dream of racing for you.

Special thanks to the Arizona crew (My brother and his friends Jason and Jeremy) who picked me up on their way from Phoenix. Thanks for being there and thanks for doing most of the work while I was being the social butterfly.

A great day, a long drive but well worth it and look forward to next year already.
Deans 35th
The Redline I built up is #73 but close enough gOrk. Those awards were so cool too! BTW it was an honor racing gOrk in the hack race. I just wished I could have given it a go in the main.

I know I forgot a few people and I apologize. But it was great to hang out with my soul brother DAN, meeting Darren Chang, talking with Jack Weingart, Jon Anderson, and others. I almost forgot the one other person who made this cool trip to the past a reality. Thumperpilot and the folks at the ABA

If anyone has some pictures of the hack race, I would really really appreciate any.

Again, thanks all
Jack Weingart
Reilley1,

Right back at ya!

Jack
TEAMRICK aka RICK TWOMEY
from the pictures i've seen and the stories i've been told and read, sounds like the sidehack still steal the show. some things never change.
aba shannon.......scott & gOrk,
great job !
TEAMRICK aka RICK TWOMEY
and another thing..........
lets not forget all the people who helped behind the limelght.
and the shudder bugs and on and on......and i'd like to thank my parents and...........
retrodave
Thanks for sharing the pic's. Look forward to seeing more of all those sweet rides.
Thumperpilot
It was great ahngin' with all the fellas. I hope we can keep this tradition going on the west coast. It was a great event for the first time out of the gate. I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for bringing down your rides. It was great to take a trip down memory lane. It was great to meet some of the screen names and put a face with a name. Thanks to everyone who showed up, and a big Thank You to Gork and Scott. Let's keep the ball rolling for another future event.

For those who missed it, the main event for sidehacks lived up to the hype. Carnage everywhere!

Team Anderson gets my "MOVE" of the weekend with the sweet high-low move in the last turn.

Damn - looks like I missed a good one here - so close but no cigar.
Would have been great to have hooked up with you all, especially the likes of Darren Chan who I have bought a couple of frames off.

If any of you make it down to NZ let me know!

I'm LA for another four days - my schedule is pretty full but if any of you LA area guys feel friendly hit me with a text message on +6421767260.

Hey, I came by the show later in the afternoon and there was a pristine DB Turbo in there that I didn't see in the pics. Anybody get a pic of that? I was talking to Dean about it (by the way, nice to meet you, Dean). That thing was amazing. It looked like somebody just pulled it out of the box for this show. It had the Turbo cranks and everything. Who's was that?
Hudson
Ask and u shall receive. Now somebody pony up a decent 24inch cruiser frame and fork for me (i'm hooked...I had 3 freestyle bikes in roseville btw)...sorry i didn't get to meet Darren...i've bought lots from him...great seller.

Click the thumbnail for a bigger pic of the DB HL Turbo. Alan's feet in the background i believe. His JMC's rocked.

Holy Smokes, that thing is amazing! Was it not entered in the show?

There were some really amazing bikes there but that thing made my jaw hit the floor. I was just standing there talking to a buddy about looptail quads or something then I turned around and saw that and my jaw hit the floor. Very nice. It brought me back.
