Hi,
I have an old Se Quadangle that's been in my garage for 20+ years. I've had about 30 people want to buy it. I don't know where the serial number is. Someone said it was on the back drop on the right side (if you are sitting on the bike). Well i took the paint off with paint remover(bike was repainted black from gold at one point) and there's nothing there. Is the serial number in different locations for older bikes? How can I find out how much its worth?

there's a chance there is no serial number at all.Is it a looptail?
****Cue Jaws music for the circling sharks****
It's worth what someone would pay, loops are worth much more than any other, non serial one's are even rarer...
Send me a pic and I will post it for you
best way to sell is ebay,no reserve auction, let
them have at it,I'm a 26'' guy myself..
Look at the top of the page,in the museum, and see if it resembles any Quad in there

Early cro-mo Quads had the number stamped in bottom of bottom bracket.
Stamps were light and might not be visible thru the paint.
{edit - I can't spell}
and BTW - old Quads seem to be worth alot

Or keep it and build it up....... especally if it was from your childhood. I've seen looptail quad frames fetch greater than a grand.

I don't think its a loop tail. I think its from 83 or 84.

For that matter it was probably used as the getaway vehicle in numerous crimes

All looptails are stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket. Both the Mild Steel and the Chromoly looptails.
After that it was always the same for US made frames. Always on the right rear (drive side) rear stay. Reynolds style frames are all marked the same. 01 - 83 - 1111. = Jan '83 + sequence. This was used up until '85. Then they went to a QA - 1111 serial number. That was both on the later chromoly frames and the aluminum frames.
Mild Steel loops start with a zero.

This is a typical Reynolds style frame serial number.

This is a later Chromoloy frame with a QA serial number. There are also a few with an "AS" serial number. AS = Assassin. Some had Assassin "AS" stamped rear stays.

This is an aluminum frame. US made. The overseas made aluminum Quad frames have a different SN. I think maybe on the bottom bracket instead if I remember right. Those were the "Killer" complete bike sets that SE offered.

Anyway hope that helps. Remember that stamping can be very light on some of those frames.

Oh yeah paint stripper is really your friend. Be patient and try to get it that way instead of blasting for it. Maybe it has been refinished and that it is already blasted away? No? Pics got pics? What stickers are on it?
