Are the AME grips seen on ebay from the 1980s? Are they considered old school?
Anyone know the history on these grips?
What about the KOBE grips?

Thanks
Rick

As far as I know, they are newer since they really haven't stopped making them. A'ME website you can still order grips in just about any color. The older models have a 'bubble' type font as opposed to the futuristic logo see on the site and newer grips.

I just used A'me grips on 2 of my builds.
I run the low flange mtb supersofts on my Quadangle, and the look and feel great (still come w/ the old "bubble font" & are cheap !!

I got a set of the old style GT supersofts for my Redline, because I always dug'em BITD, they were a little more $ than the white ones but not to bad..I dont think they make those anymore.

A'me = Great grips !!!

AME's second only to Mushrooms in comfort.

I run Ame Rounds on all my bikes...the best feeling grip in my opinion!!

They're still made and are virtually the same as the OGs

Im with you on the Rounds, I always ran them BITD, I was actually surprised to see that A'me was still making them as I dont see them as much as you see the Tri grips.
I wanted a set of red Rounds for my retro cruiser build, but couldnt find them in time , so I ended up blowing 50 buck on a set of NOS Oakley F1s...Oakley made an awesome grip too, I wish they would make grips again.

I'm using new AME's on my build, an 81 GT 24" - bought them at the local bike shop for like 5 bucks, as far as I can remember they look about the same as they did BITD..

I have A'me rounds on my 81 GT26 and I had black A'me tris on my 82 GT24. I have black Grab On MX3's on there at the moment, but I know I will be going back to A'mes eventually. Really, the only difference between old school and new school A'me tri's and rounds is the logo. Still good quality (and comfy!) grips

A'mes rule. I like the rounds as well, but Tri's are equally comfortable.

Tri's, rounds, all good. Rounds are a little softer feeling. I like the old Cam grips too, they don't make those anymore but they pop up once in a while and usually go pretty reasonable.
