Have one from '82-'83? (serial RA47413) and just pulled it out of storage after 20 years. Had it shipped to Spain when I was living there and added European knock-offs from England and Germany plus some reputable pieces (Z-rims, Aero seat, MX-100 caliper, and a Zeronine plate). Dismantled it recently during a Scotch bout and while parts are soaking, was curious where I could find some new OS cranks and tires to get this thing running again. Going to keep all my knock-offs because I went to great lengths to have all the candy apple colors match, but want it old school. After treatment, regreasing, and a brief ride, it'll probably hang on my wall somewhere in the living room.
Still has my 'BMX Action' and Oakley stickers on the plate (also scum where the 10" Vans sticker was taken off) and, besides the usual front and rear axle wearing of paint, is scattered with chips on the frame from failed 360's, endos, 2' bunny-hops, etc. that occured mostly on concrete and marble due to the relatively brutal architecture of the European continent.
Questions?: Where can I find period tires and cranks, and is this bike rare or what? Can't seem to find any site that lists anything about it at length and, of course, can't find a Race Inc. or related site to save my life.

Also, what is and where is Race Inc.? I researched heavily before I bought it as a teenager and waited months for the frame, forks, seat-post and handle bars to arrive, but never knew much about the company. Just knew what I liked. Any links, info, mag articles, etc. out there?
Thanks again.

OK. Race Inc was a BMX company started in late 1976 or early 1977 by Bill Bastian in California. They were in business through 1984 and then went belly up. Race Inc made all their own frames, all the Cycle Pro Foiler frames, All the FMF frames, and all the SE Racing PK Rippers and JU6's starting in 78 through about 82 when SE took everything in house. They also did frames for some other companies too. If you search Race Inc here in the search area, it will turn up info for you. The owner, Bill Bastian made great frames but had very questionable work ethics. Do you have pics of the bike? As far as tires and cranks, go to the for sale section here and check ebay for multiple choices. My opinion is that any Race Inc is a keeper, but i'm biased as I have 13 Race Incs and LOVE them all.

RACEin - Where in Spain? That is my favorite country place to "rest".
Baked white fish, some local wine and watching flamenco dancing while the ocean is near is awesome....
WHile there on busienss one year, I checked every shop I could find in hopes of finding an NOS Montessa Trials Bicycle. Not a Monty, but the real deal...

Yes, PK...I know its an uneven number so I'll try to buy one more to make it an even 14.
That is what you meant, right?

Thanks for the primer and advice Brian. In the sober light of morning, it looks like it's going to be a bit of work. Any advice on polish and cleaners?

You might want to check with johnson99 here on the site for Race Inc. stickers, he's a great guy and has done a great job at reproducing them. You can also search ebay for him as well, I think he uses johnson999 on ebay. Great frame, definitely a keeper, be sure to post pics when you get a chance!
