Hi could anyone tell me what type or date of this Patterson ?

Ok the bottom braket is machined. It is chrome or nickel under the paint haven't striped yet.
Top Tube is 18.5'
Rearend 15' to 16.5'
Serial no - 00822
If that helps anyone ID it.
Took it for a ride today not to bad to ride.

it is a patterson that should not be white. ha ha it looks like an 82. serial # on bottom bracket? round brake bridge? hole drilled in gussett behind bottom bracket? it's an 82 I can tell by serial number. the earlier ones had a letter before the serial number, like P or A or L.

I'm not keen on painted early 80's bikes, I remember all were chrome, It will be after I strip it back.

Yes number is on bottom bracket.Yes round brake bridge.
I got the frame the other day and just had to ride it.
Should it have the Western type stickers? Is it the same as the Test in BMX action April 1982.
Thanks Matt

yes, the western decals are ok but then they also had those new fangled decals on clear- not white- background, all were ok for 82. same as that test bike. should be chrome under the white.

Hi Matt, your patterson is the same as mine. I purchased mine from the original owner. He told me he purchased it back it 1982, although I believe mine to be an 1981 Long model. My serial number is 03081. I will have finished restoring the bike within the next two weeks. I have emailed you already so lets try & catch up. I'll will send you some pics of mine as soon as you send your email address to me. Cheers from Ben.

I have started to strip the paint and it's chrome under it. The chrome is in good condition, they didn't scratch it up before they painted it. Just heavy on the primer. Little bit of piting but not bad for the time. Will post picc later.
There's nothing like air between the wheels. Just hope to come to the States one day, to live my child hood dream of racing over there.

is that an old track not used for racing anymore, hence the grafitti??

The track isn't use for big meeting much.
The grafitti is very fresh.

All the bikes Matt & I put together now are built to be ridden & as he mentioned _raced_ ,like they were bitd,
we try to build them strong & brutal , we are not the light/medium weights were in the 1980's , we use the longest frames & strongest forks we can get our hands on from the 1980's & build them up from there.
This Patterson frame is a tad shorter than the Skyway TA XL , is about the same length as the 199? cro mo quad (1 1/8th forks) and similar length to my old skatepark bike.
We lined this Patterson up against the Thruster frame & saw ~1/2 an inch air space + headtube longer , the tiny Thruster frame will be getting stripped down & used for parts to fit onto the Patterson , Bottema forks seem suitable to fit onto this model Patterson , just need to sort out the stamped sunshine alloy wheels for it , 95% of the white paint is now gone , it should be presentable in a few weeks or so pending on how the mail & $$$ flow....

Try this link for all the racing action in Aust. The old school scene is small but we have a lot of quality builders down here.
