That's cool man, it should be a nice one with some effort. I see the Vbmx schene has finally calmed after that last Tornado that went through. This is my way of saying, get real dudes. I hope you enjoy your frame and it becomes the 'one of a kind' that it truly is. -jim

The first Hutch frames were released in June of 1981.
Hal and I raced in State College, PA at an ABA national the weekend of May 9-10, 1981. I stood next to Hal as he spoke with Rich Hutchins about buying a frame set. Hal was told to try in a few weeks as they were close to being released. We went home and Hal had our local bikeshop contact Hutch. He received a frameset in early June.

Bill you are probably correct on the actual release, but I think I had mine sometime in December of 80 or at least as early as January 81. I have a picture of me riding mine at the Jersey City Armory in Jan 81.

jjmack, my memory is not the best. But I actually had one of, if not first Black Hutch F/F sets. I think it would have been an Expert and not a Pro as I was 14 and average size. I just remember it was late 1980 or early 1981 when I received it. Rich was just getting in the chrome prototypes and a few black ones that he referred to as black Chrome (or that was the look he was going for). I liked it and asked if I could run it instead of the chrome that his other riders got at the time. As far as the frame and stickers, it was a black f/f with drilled brake bridge and I actually had gold or yellow on white (again my memory is not the best) first gen stickers just like the red on white ones. Ultimately the Black bike became my practice bike and I had another chrome one as my race bike. This is the only picture that I have of the bike and it is a black and white photo. It was a sweet looking bike with gold parts. I know it's a bad pic and you can't see all of the F/F. I'm pretty sure that John McNeil's Dad took the pic at the Jersey City Armory. It was for a team layout that appeared in Total BMX in the summer of 1981
