Guessing they first appeared in 1982 on the Huffy Pro Lightning, thats actually the only place I've ever seen them.

Same here, I have a set of gold hoops off of a Pro Lightning, the hubs were $ hit, so I just kept the hoops.

I have a set that were Arron Spencers (Sunshine racing Australia) from 80, 81 and im not sure when exactly he got them perhaps some of the old school Aussies might remember seeing him with them.

late 82/83 ... also came on the better model Raleigh 7000 series (if you can consider them better then the normal crap they pushed out)
