I also don't like nobody touchin' my stuff. So keep your meathooks off...
Knowing what I know about the theory behind how a Slingshot frame works, I have no idea why they would try to make a bmx frame (other than to try to cash in on the growth of bmx at that point in time.) They are designed to flex, which seems to me would be highly detrimental to the handling characteristics of a bmx race frame.
Anyone ever ridden one of these? I've ridden one of their mtb frames, and it felt like I was riding a giant inchworm. I did'nt like it at all...

I think they are Mongoose bars. At least that's what I thought when I built that bike a few years ago.....

ya ...I've ridden one.
tedr on this bbs rode one bitd (a cruiser) ...and far as I know still has it
The idea/hype/theory of SlingShot was for benefit as you launched from the gate. The flex would store up a little energy (sling) then release the energy and put you out of the gate faster (shot). Also to absorb & dissipate shock for smoother ride.
The side effect was frame flex. Side to side and elongation - was bane to bmx application but was boon to mtb application.
I liked SlingShot mtb alot. One of the few bikes I regret selling.

A not quite VBMX side note: Mark Groendal (the inventor) is back in the bike business. see

I sent the guy a question a few days ago to find out who's bike it was. He said it was Jim Hendlers old bike, Jamsons dad.
I always liked my Slingshot's I still have my cruiser and MTB. They work great once you get used to the ride, I had some great races on mine.
Am anxious to ride Marks new ERB mtb. Click on the link above or check out.

Game on!......lmao.....
You NEED that one Pauly! Seriously! It's got your name all over it!
It's got a German engineering look to it! It would be awesome alongside the VW Tuner after a quick cobalt blue paint job! I'll be truly disapointed if you don't jump on this one, so I can see this one at the track this summer!!!
The only thing is, I'd ask the seller how much those cables are rated for, before bidding on it. Not that you are much fatter than me of course, I just don't like seeing friends get hurt! They look pretty tough to me though.

I wish I could say ""El Diablo" made me do it", but that clearly is not the case here, although he may have some say in it later!

Thanks for the encouragement Ted, nothing but love.
If I bought that thing I would have to swap the cables for rebar so we could ride double, and of course I would paint the rebar imola yellow (15hp gain).

Is it really Jim's old bike?
Crap... I've ridden that bike. But I don't remember it looking quite like it does now

I said it on the other mid school thread, and I'll say it here. TIM,does this one come with a "bonus" $400.00 gearbag too? That's kinda like the bonus I get here at work, non existent...
the "bonus" is you'll never get the gearbag off me if i don't sell the bike.
fyi, i've been offered $800 for the gearbag alone... so yeah, it's a bonus.
