First of all, is this frame an eric rupe model?
It has this sticker attached.

Secondly can any one give me a full rundown on on the differences between an Eric rupe, proclass, cali and expert?? (with pics would be appreciated)

For the first poster who can provide pics and full info i will send some assorted decals(of my choice) to them for free anywhere in the world!!!

or email me waza@waza.net

I believe the pro class and eric rupe sig. models are full chromoly and slightly larger than the trimoly cali's and experts.

Yes, thats a ERIC RUPE Signature Edition. Debuted in 1985 and made until about 1988.

The Rupe has both top and bottom tubes 1 1/4

Pro Class had top tube 1 1/8 and bottom tube 1 1/4

Cali and expert and both top and bottom tubes 1 1/4

The Rupe also had beefy 3/4" tubing for the rear looptail section.

Do I win?

OK - I actually think they were around in late 1984 although not for sale.
Eric was obviosuly riding and develoiping a prototype.

I have a Eric Rupe frame that needs a repaint etc.
The serial number is J4000498 which should make it 1984.

My one has strange deals - possibly home-made or pre-production.
I am actually wondering if it's Eric Rupe's actual frame.
It's a long shot but he did come out here in MArch of 85 to race.
Often the racers left their bikes behind rather than ship them back.
Who knows?
I'm not going to repaint it until I find out.

Here's a pic of Eric in New Zealand March 1985.

here's my frame - this is when I got it - I have taken all the parts off it now.
