This was my first real BMX bike 23 years ago and I am trying to source information on them for a possible future project.

Any info is helpful, or if anyone knows someone with a frame to sell- I found a slightly cracked frame on Ebay- just looking for alternatives.

thanks!

That was my first "real" bmx bike too. I cracked the frame in two. There was one on e-bay a while back. I think Reilley1 may have a frame. He mentioned it in another thread.

Thanks for the info!

Hey Dayride- I just noticed you are from Dayton OH. I got my PUCH when I lived in Centerville OH, I wonder if that is a coincidence, or if they were distributed more heavily in that area?

I moved to Pennsylvania shortly after my 7th birthday, and my PUCH was stolen from the Garage at my Mothers house in Pittsburgh about 2 years later.

It seemed a shame at the time, because as I remember it wasn't a very cheap bike. I think it went for $200 back in 81' or 82'- that was a virtual mint back then.

By now I have had the thing built up in my mind as a really top rated machine, now that I know that you broke yours, I guess my question is...

Am I deluded? Was The PUCH decent, or was it in fact "not decent"?

I still want to research replicating my old one regardless of the answer, but at the same time I don't want to go around thinking I had something better than I did.

Dayride is from Chillicothe like me and I only remember one PUCH MX in town back then. JP: did you buy that at RB or TWT?
dayride
Like Alan said I am originally from Chilicothe. I got mine at RB (Rivers Bend) in Chili. I thought when I got that bike they had a bunch of them at RB. I remember another red one like mine in town. More than likely the same distributor worked Centerville and Chillicothe. He must have been good at his job. What shop in Centerville K&G?

You are right Flip they were not real high end bikes. Not like the Track Pro. I was probably about 10 or 11 then so they were pretty good in my mind too. I eventually put some better components on it. The only original part I remember were Suzue hubs. Alan probably did not work at the bike shop then so he probably does not have any idea of any other parts that came on that bike. I may have a picture of me and that bike around here somewhere.

Flip, there is nothing wrong for building that bike up bigger and better in your mind. It is kind of like a first love much better in your mind than in reality.

I was actually 6 or 7 when I got that bike- i have no idea where it came from. I DO remember there being a black one with red pads in my neighborhood.

Mine was Blue with yellow rims, seat, and yellow leather pads.

When it was stolen it was sporting a chrome blue Diacompe "MX" brake, and lever, and the front brake, and reflectors had been "deleted" by my cousin Jaison. I think I was running the number 89 on a black Haro aero plate featuring gold lightning bolts.

I remember that bike represented something very special to me, and when it was taken I was devestated.

I do not have any pictures to remember it by.

The good news is... I can rebuild it. Possibly even better than before.

Now to find a frame...

Philip,

I realize it's been about a year since this thread was active, but this...

Are you still looking? I'd kinda like to have the wheels, but...
