I grew up in York, PA and the local anodizer did all Hutch's stuff for a while. I also met the guy who owned Direct Link at a nearby skatepark in 85 or 86. York is an hour north of Baltimore so it was like Hutch central.

Here in Toowoomba (Queensland, Australia) we had a factory making "Cobra" bmx bikes and "Condor" 26 inch mens and ladies bikes in the '80s.

The Bmx bikes were mongoose ripoffs, except the Team guys rode sweet japanese imports (made by Hoizumi - I think.) Which were almost identical to DB Snakes.

I think I have half of the Cobra production in my back shed - Including one team bike, One 26" Cobra Cruiser and recently swapped a Cobra Freestyle bike with a guy in Town here.

(See the Aussie Bike thread in Worldwide BMX for some pics)

I GREW UP IN SAN DIEGO. I THINK LINN KASTAN WAS IN NATIONAL CITY FOR AWHILE ANYWAY. SE STARTED LONG BEACH/SIGNAL HILL THEN CAME DOWN TO SAN MARCOS. DIAMOND BACK IN EL CAJON FOR AWHILE, MAYBE?
Ramon a.k.a Beaner
Sandy Finkelman had a bike shop called "Wheels n' Things" in El Cajon. Don't recall DB ever being there otherwise Johnny Johnson and Reilly would have known about it...

A lot of people BITD thought Diamond Back was in East San Diego cause Sandy Finkelman/ Wheels N' Things (Fletcher Hills, almost El Cajon).
Diamond Back was a subsidiary of Centurion (I believe Japan) which was distributed by Western States Imports in uh.. North L.A. (Newberry Park).

Lynn Kastan did and possibly still lives in San Diego. But his shop for Kastan was in (I believe) Tijuana Mexico. Right across the border from San Diego.
