BMX DOG DAD
Kevins father gave my son his nickname. While racing at Toledo Speedway BMX, He watched him race and said I have Special "K" over there and ther goes Super "K". The name stuck. Kevin was a very fast rider. I remember His Dad used to ride his Road bike down to Toledo, and even up to Waterford. Super Family. That Special "K" bike has to be worth a mint. No matter what shape it is in. They never made a lot of them. BDD

I remember "Special K" coming to race at Buds BMX in Elkhart, IN. He was fast! WM

Tell Kevin I said hello, my last name was Edwards back in the day. I'm sure he'll remember me. We were all pretty close, now all we have to do is track down the Soule's and we can have a reunion.

It would be great to talk to Kevin. Have him email me at deannajamieson@comcast.net
JJR
Kevin mailed me a while ago via my website.
Asked him for a interview but never got a answer on that.
Say hello form me, JJR

I think I talked to you a few years ago at the Downers Grove USPRO crit championship. Were you racing a bright green road bike a while back?

My first complete build was a 1981 Hutch "Special K Collins" model. Unfortunately, I grew like a weed the following year and needed a bigger frame so I opted for JMC Shadow that time around. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Kevin Collins was great racer with alot of style.. super smooth and unbeatable when he was young
and bmx was at its peak, in a super fast class

He traveled the world racing for Hutch, he then rode for mongoose a while and then i never saw him anymore.

Kevin also had a great personality and was really funny.

his parents were super nice

I remember Kevin and his mom and dad (Was it Ron and Alice?) They were super nice people, Mr. Collins used to give me great advice before my races and he was always very supportive. Kevin was a lot of fun to be around, too. Always joking and pickin! I would love to hear from Kevin or anyone else that migh remeber me.

I raced him dozens of times. He would scream and growl in staging, trying to freak out the comp. Most of the time it worked. I believe I have a photo of him and me when he raced for Honey’s Pizza I think!
