Someone thought it might be a Diamond Back...

joe cool on a Phaze One
Rumblefish maybe??

Whatever it is, it's COOL!

Jad?

around '95 both DB and Schwinn made one's like that...is it heavy? There's weren't chromo, so they'd be heavy and have only ok welds......
b.cal
Definitely an odd design. I've seen this before and can't remember for the life of me what it is.
lownslow
Didn't JAD make a frame like that ?
Reilley1
Strange world. I was going through my mental files thinking about the old RR frame similar to that one yesterday. This isn't one of them, but does anyone remember that RR frame? I can almost picture the ad.
Jet Black
1st guess: It's a frame that a recumbent bike frame builder was forced to build at gunpoint.

2nd Clue: The tab on the BB for a chainguard says internal department store espionage or purchasing bicycles whilst under the influence of nose candy &/or alcohol.

3rd Thought: the word's rare , collectable , unique valuable & other buzz words do not appear in the auction description , extremely odd.

It's either a JAD or a Fabweld.

Looks the same as a black one on Aussie Ebay a couple a weeks ago. Was going for around $25.00 complete!
Would have bought it just for the unique factor except it was NSW pick up only!

reilly1: You have an incredible memory my friend. I found what you are talking about reilly1. I am going ahead and posting the cover of the issue of the BMX NEWS that I found it in(just for fun), the page that the R&R is on, and a zoom of it.

A SIDE NOTE: I'm thinking about posting whole issues of BMX NEWS on vintage. Maybe I could post like 1 per week or something like that. Does anyone think there would be a problem with that? I mean like legal issues and all that crud. Maybe I'll just post a thread asking this question.

Mike Welsh,

I would love to see this stuff, I think it is a perfect fit for VBMX.

Hijacker (?)

pk ripped
Blows me away that they came out with a monoque frame like that in the 70s only to resurrect in the 90s as Jad, Rumblefish, etc. Truly adhead of its time that RR.
Mike Welsh
PaulyMN: lol.....sorry dude, I didn't meant to hijack! Anyway, I do recall seeing that frame you have in question. Sounds like pk ripped and others know more about it than I do. Cool frame, cool find.
ronoc101
defenitely NOT JAD!!! rumblefish i thought maybe, except for that tab makes it look cheap, and at 8lbs i thought the rumblefish was a racing bike...not fabweld either....CHEAP CHEAP...keeps ringing in my head...

What bike is over the R&R ad? Help me out Bros my vision is not all that well and I have lots of trouble reading print!
Mike Welsh
G-Flash: Above the R&R is a Webco hardtail and it was Webco's first frame. It had a single gusset. I had one of those frames and I still have pictures of that bike. The smaller pic is a Webco monoshock with the same style single gusset frame. Well heck I'll just zoom in on it for ya.

PaulyMN: I swear I'm not trying to hijack your thread bro. We are all here to share each others knowledge and have a good time and learn at the same time. I hope you don't mind me posting this zoomed in pic for G-Flash. In my opinion it's actually pretty cool how these threads can turn in different directions and lead toward other questions. Thanks for understanding Pauly. Myself, G-Flash, Reilly1, and sure others appreciate it! I promise that if one of my threads leads toward something other than the headline topic I will be ecstatic.
G-Flash
Thank you Bros so much for your help!

No biggy Mike Welsh, we are all pretty much Attention Deficit Disorder anyways, I totally understand!

I thought those were places to attach number plates.

That crazy frame looks like a frame I remember seeing at Rancho being shown in about 1976-77. It had some strange name that I can't remember.
osrlracer
I don't know what it is but it's not a Schwinn. I kept this for a long time and when I just dug it out , I thought of a specific use for it !! I bet a belt drive would go real easy on this !!
Reilley1
Thanks Mike W. I was thinking about the RR frame for whatever reason and knew I didn't make it up in my mind...
Rev.Lucky
me and a pal of mine both had they had db decals on them we called them i-frames. they were junk. i know a kid that stills has one.
Mike Welsh
np rick/reilly1.......my pleasure....i actually forgot about those frames and it's a coincidence that you brought that up cause my brother was just showing me some pictures of that R&R in an old minicycle mag...i will scan those pics and put them somewhere...i don't know if i should put them here though unless PaulyMN wouldn't mind.......

osrlracer: i have NEVER seen a frame like that one....i love the profile and the curves on that thing.....very futuristic looking....that would be cool to build up with some motomags and astabula forks.....or redlines....do you want to sell that frame?....i really like that for some reason.....

Mike Welsh, I've been "wanting" to do something other than a vintage resto. this would work great for a belt drive project !
Jeff Utterback
Greg Hill rode a "Spencer Monocoque" in 1975.

Kind of looks like one to me.
Reilley1
Greg who?
Shawn Sheely MN-1
It's an early Taiwanese frame, notice that the chain stays are just fork blades, flipped and welded on the main tube. You can still see funky stuff like this on any Taiwan builder's websites

pic from Rad yesterday!

Just best me to it Glenn!
