So I stop in the local bike shop today after work(a shop that's been open since 1956), looking for a 16 tooth Bendix sprocket. The owner says to go look in the back in the parts drawers. Never did find the sprocket, but found these!
NOS Schwinn heavy duty 20x2.125 wheel, with a NOS Carlisle Aggressor mounted on it! And a NOS Tange 1200 fork. Perfect parts for two different 70's builds I'm working on!

Now, I've never owned any Carlisle tires before, but I found a pile of them at a swap meet last weekend, and then this one today. What are the odds of finding them in the same week? I THOUGHT I had cleaned this shop out years ago, but every I time I stop in there a find some new little treasure. The back room of this shop is just crammed full of stuff, so it's pretty easy to overlook a cool item. I love it when I find things I actually NEED, though!

Anybody else find anything good this week?

Which shop Dave?
Not sure the Bike Barn in Lakeland is still owned by Dave, but he always had quite the stash of stuff that wouldn't sell BITD.
If you find anything cool, I'll take a few of the Bike Barn seat tube stickers for the tip.
When I was in Lakeland for hurricane clean-up a couple years back, there was a guy at the farmers market that had a HUGE stack of bikes with all kinds of cool stuff-cheap.
I bought a set of Pro Class wheels from him with tires and all for $3.
Good luck!

Oh, believe me, I cleaned out any old school stuff from the Bike Barn LONG ago!!! I still shop there for new school stuff, though. It's the only local shop that's any good for BMX stuff. I'll hafta ask if they have any Bike Barn stickers left!
Are you from this area?

I lived in Lakeland from '82-'90, back in Michigan now.
I was the one in the Florida thread a while talking about the old Lk. Alfred track.
So does Dave still run the place, or is it still in the family?
I used to buy all my stuff from him BITD, even though I spent more time at Bent's Schwinn (Bent's cyclery) sweeping floors and odd jobs for shop credit.
Dave opened a second shop when freestyle was huge; way down Florida ave. where the toll rd. is now. Once store 2 opened, I don't think I stepped foot in Bent's again.
Interesting Bent's fact:
He had two NOS-mint Race Inc. frame kits
( 1-red, 1-blue) still on the shelf for-sale as late as '92.
Can't remember the exact price, but I know they were under $200 each.
Bet you'd get a few more $ then that today on a certain auction site.
