A couple weeks ago I found my 8 year old son jumping in my front yard. He made a wooden jump from some scrap. I will post a pic when I get them back. I have never pushed him on bikes but he loves them.
I know Rod Beckering, Clint Miller and Stu Thomsens kids have all raced.
Lets hear about how your kids are getting RAD in any sport. It's tiime to brag and post some PICS.

Last spring my 5 year old, Henry, finally got off training wheels. The next weekend he saw me do my first BMX race. The following weekend he raced.
I have been taking him to skateparks for a couple of years. he dropped in on a five foot quarter pipe on his big wheel and did an 8 foot roll in. He carves bowls on his bike and scooter and can drop in on wedge ramps with his skateboard. He just turned 6 and we are going to Woodward this weekend. Growing up with a "rad dad" he thinks all that stuff is normal.
He has a 16" haro, a GHP mini for racing, a 16" tuffwheel clad motorcycle looking bike and is getting a '76 stingray junior next week via eBay. He skates a World Industries mini.

My little dude is 2 and a half and is the youngest 9th Street local ever.
He thinks that all of this bicycle riding and jumping is what you're supposed to do. He rides his bike through our house since it's got wood floors and is fairly open. He can ride circles around stuff and drop off of a little step we have in the living room.
He likes to do kind of fast turns where he goes up on just the front wheel and one training wheel.
This activity has just broken one of his training wheels. Go figure. His first broken bike part at age 2 1/2. That's a huge head start on me. I don't think he's ready to take off the training wheels yet and I don't want him to get discouraged riding his bike. I guess I need to find some more somewhere.
Anyway, here he is at 9th Street:

It's cool to see you on this site. I am glad your Kid is into riding.
For those of you who don't know him well. Harlow has been there and done-it when it comes to bikes. Last time I saw him race he was killing them on a road bike.

These were posted about a year ago, when he was nine. One he is gapping, he busted out a 10+ footer two weeks ago that I got on video in front of the house. The other was a no footer he was pulling at the age of 9 in one of our many local skate parks.

Hey Nelson - If your boy is doing wacky turns like that he's got to have some sense of balance points already, and has already developed a level of confidence on the bike. If he broke a training wheel already, take them things off and let him progress!
I don't even remember having training wheels, I was so young when my dad took them off my bike. He tells me it just looked to him like I did'nt need them, so he took them off. I climbed on the bike, he helped me balance for a second and gave me a little push and off I went. I was 3 1/2 or so.
2 1/2 might be a little young yet I guess, but your boy is showing some talent early. His tiny T1 is cool!!

I have never been to Woodward.
Lucky kid.
I've got to post pics of my kids new bike soon.
It's a 16" and it matches daddy's bike.
Still have to rock the training wheels for a while though.
I took his old 12" and removed the cranks and chain and lowered the seat so he can push around on it and learn a little bit about leaning and balancing. (He's 2 1/2, by the way) I see the kids in Germany with little bikes like that and just about everyone in Germany rides bikes so they must be onto something.
Anybody tried this?

A Friend of mine just got one of those for his 2 1/2 year old son. He said it was about $250.00. He said it is working well, but heck I think you have the right idea with what you did with his old bike. Much cheaper too!
